I have a tiny little problem. when i try the TV Show renamer on a folder it seems to find a matching tvshow with one of my subfolders. eg. my folderstructure is as follows

c:\media center\My Videos\Series\American Dad\Season 1\

when i try to use tvshowrenamer on the American Dad folder, I get that popup window to select a name for the show My Videos and I get 2 or three options... anyway of choosing how deep in the folderstructure it will search???

anyway! kickass tool!
Please check if this error still exists in 1.1

I've just released version 1.1 together with the source code of the tool. It uses the new xml interface to query episodeworld.com. You can now also modify the way the movies will be written as well using some constants.

Great program, thanks! How about programs like Star Trek series that have a ":" in the title? Can't use that as a folder name so how does one search these folders?

It will replace the : with a . and all other invalid filename characters.
As for naming your folders: You can just name your folder "Star Trek Voyager" and it will find the series.

that sounds weird. What folder are those files in? I guess that folder is named something like "search". It is designed to primarily search for the folder name as the series name and as a fallback uses the name in the episode when it doesn't find any series from the database. Since it can find series that are named something with search it will not try for invasion.

If you have all your series in one folder you could add a registry key to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TV Show Renamer\Series\ with the name of your folder and set the default value to "forward". It will then use the series name from the episode instead of the folder - or you could rename your folder to something that doesn't match a series.

Thanks. I renamed folders as you suggested and it worked great for the Star Trek. Any ideas for Law & Order series?

why? The & is a valid character for folders and filenames so that should be no problem. Just name it "Law & Order" and it will find it.
If you are curious because of the selection dialog it shows you when it first finds a series: This information is saved to the registry so a second scan will not ask you again but will use the series you selected.
