The summer alpha of mp2 does not contain any codecs.
I still recommend the latest lav

I happen to use Shark's Codec Pack (which is mostly just LAV Filters + a few other tweaks and such anyway).
I'll use it right now!

Hi,

I discovered the version 2 of mediaportal by looking for a mediacenter that can handle PIP and now that i've read all this i can't wait to test the current version - not at home for the moment.
I just have one question: i have a tv card that also has an hdmi input (for ps3 for exemple). Can MP2 handle this input or will it be able to?

MP2 uses the MP1 TvServer, so all what works there will also work inside MP2

Stuck at step #0... Can't install.
Before the installer can run I get the error "This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service. You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service". I'm running Vista 64bit with the latest service pack and all the updates.
Any ideas?

Sorry, MP2 does only support Windows 7 (and above). Please also refer to installation requirements and wiki page.

Yea1h, there was a discussion a while back and I think the conclusion was that since Windows 8 would be out by the time of release (and now maybe even Windows 9 ) it's best to just drop the older operating systems.

That said you can get Windows 8 at a great price these days.
