AW: MediaPortal Audio renderer - better video playback quality

Volume control is not working with WASAPI exclusive mode since it bypasses the OS audio mixer.

You have to use the volume control on your amp/tv.

@tourettes
Is there a way to fix that problem with this video or is simply the video "trash"?
Would it be a solution to set 24Hz as fps in the mkv container?

Yes, but it is planned for the future ? So i don´t want to use two remotes !

    How you switch TV on and off ?
    but i need to switch it on ONCE and after that i could sit on my couch and use only one remote. After i decide to go to bed i need to use TV remote another one time, but hey, it is only twice for whole evening ;) i really miss the possibility to control volume from my RF remote when using 5.1 sound going through optical SPDIF, because
    1. i need to use second remote
    2. my receiver is in such a place that i really need to aim it with remote to control it. this is not the case for my X10 RF remote that i use for controlling my HTPC that is behind the TV.

    So i hope that after tourettes already has fixed almost all bugs in core features, he could make volume control for this renderer.
    Thanks in advance !

    You can always use IRSS + IR Blaster to map your remote volume buttons to macros that send IR commands to you TV Set or Amp.

    Yep, but even that won't preserve the sound quality that will be lost in the digital volume control :)

    No need to trash that file yet :) At least MS H264 video decoder seems to be playing not so nicely, so it could be a codec issue we are seeing here. From GraphEdit:

    Input 333667 == 29.97 fps
    Output 417083 == 23.976 fps

    Could you check how it behaves with different video codecs? (I'm a bit out of time today...).

    Why not?
    AFAIK volume control in Amps is not done using any DSP technique. Most amps will have a "digitally controlled potentiometer" i.e. a variable resistor whose resistance can be controlled by setting a binary value. I've also seen Amps having a regular volume control knob that can be controlled from the remote using an internal motor (motor will actually turn the knob at the response of the IR remote). How is any of that going to degrade signal quality (I assume you do use some kind of volume control and do not leave your amp at 100%/0db right?)

    use a harmony remote
    and / or
    buy a master / slave electric socket

    exactly. BUY. Have you ever seen how much does harmony with RF and IR cost? i don't want to loose the possibility to use RF remote.

    and again, there is a problem that all IR blasters are too slow especially when it comes to control volume (it seems that blasters are able to send 2 commands per second, and many amplifier remotes send commands much faster), so you need ages before your receiver makes volume change to +9 db

    @tourettes: sound quality degradation when using digital amplification is not so significant as you assume (imho). Or at least comparable to sound degradation when using ac3 encoding.
