Great. I will test this evening.

Thank you for your invested time in this, while there are little people who are affected. I know it means for you to spend hours and hours behind the screen.... much MUCH apreciated! Thank you.

    edterbak and/or red5goahead:

Please test the attached .ax with the Xonar and 5.1 (and 7.1 if possible) samples. The alternate channel mask testing is done in a different way. Hopefully it works, as it works on faked incoming data at least (1551 gets converted to 63 which is the opposite that Xonar will require...).

Much better than before. The only issue is now an huge audio desynch that delay from the video. but video and audio are ok.

    Hi Tourettes,
Here are the votes and results for 'the Netherlands'. TEN POINT!

But seriously. Much better indeed!! No freaky audio effects. All OK here.

    Output to 5.1 (logfile __22_28)
    22-28-25.png
After start, the dropped frames count was on 6. After 10k frames drawn it was 8! Pretty good.
    Eventmode 1
    Exclusive 1

    Output to 7.1 (logfile __23_33). .
    23-33-13.png
Start of the part showed 5 dropped frames. After ~11k frames drawn, 6 dropped. Good result here too. :)
All other settings are identical as above

Question: As for the periodical (250seconds) audio cut-outs. I havent heard them. Could you check if the log tells you the same? I dont know where to look. And maybe I missed them because of an silent moment... Ghehe...

I did not experience an audio lag/desync as Red5 describes. Dont know why.

@ Red5. Below are the settings I use + driver version. Its the original again from Asus. I did a driver rollback to see what the effect would be.

Hi Tourettes, i found one trouble movie. It's Tangled (Rapunzel) and reports 26+ fps instead of 25 in the shift+! field. No dropped frames just sawtooth red line.
LAV as prefered decoders. Logs attached. Any clue?

Good to hear that the Xonar / alternative channel mask negotiation issue is cured. Not sure yet if that fix will be present in 1.3.0 alpha or if it gets delayed to 1.3.0 beta (in any case the latest MPAR can be downloaded from this thread).

Could you be a bit more specific about the desync?

    • When does it happen?
    • What kind of files do trigger it?
    • How much the sync is off?
    • Does the sync get worser during the playback (drifting)?`
    • Does it happen on all audio HW or only with Xonar?
    • Does changing the DevicePeriod value make any difference to how much the sync is off?
The more you can give details the more likely it will be possible to fix it or at least for other testers to reproduce it.

Oh, so the A/V sync is now ok? It could be buggy drivers that did trigger it for you earlier as it was ok for edterbak.

There was not a single dropped audio sample in the logs so from that side it looks good. The dropped frames is a bit odd - there is only a single dropped frame based on the EVR renderer logs. In any case randomly dropped video frames are usually result of some system activity that steals CPU (or GPU) time. If there is systematically dropped video frames then it points to the MPAR direction.

What EVR stats are showing as fps if you don't use MPAR? Logs didn't give any clues why such would happen.
