My post was not meant to be an offense but was just an observation. MP gets more and more features and gets more bloated by each release.
I would be very interested to know exactly which features you are refering to.

    - Thank you buddy.

    infinityloop:
    - Numerous features added in 1.1 Roadmap (midi support? isn't that the format of the 80s?). But you are right, you guys have tackled a LOT of bugs for 1.1.

    - Yeah, sorry mate if I sounded like a douchebag. Without doubt MP is currently #1 as far as Windows HTPC software is concerned. Even WMC looks childish cf. MP's TV-series and movie management. Once again though, my original post was just to highlight that new 'features' don't add anything. IMO, if people want more stuff, let them manage it with plugins.

Correct. That's why MP2 will mainly consists only of plugins. if you don't need something, simply switch it off.
But the same thing can't be done so easily in the current MP ersion.
So please let us add sometimes new features without getting embarassed. :)

As I understand, MIDI support was not artificially added but rather enabled, because it was already a part of BASS library. If you don't need it it doesn't mean that other people don't need it. MIDI allows to play .kar karaoke files and they are very popular due to very small file size. I don't think this feature added any problems, so your example is not very good.

Is the RC1 release almost ready?
For October we plan to publish a first release candidate,
the final release of 1.1.0 is still targeted for December 2009.
So... Is this going to happen? Still 6 bugs to solve..

Depends how hard those bugs are to solve (the ones that are "left" as last are usually the hardest ones) and how much different developers have free time available. So, it will come when it is ready :)

6 buggs for RC1 but another 10 for 1.1.0, and I wouldn't be surprised if a couple more of them showed up :)

At the slow speed the bugs are fixed these days I think its going to be a while before we see RC1 and 1.1.0. But I don't mind waiting, the latest SVN's work well for me, and I prefer "slow-quality-development" over "fast-buggy-development"

Keep up the good work guys :D

The main problem is that these remaining issues are reeeeeeealy nasty and hard to solve.
Just when you think that you fixed it, you noticed that the fix broke something esle (see W7 codecs fixes in TsReader as example).
Also we want to have the MTN.exe crashes fixed for RC1, and that is beeing worked on as well.
