Re: MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot:-01-08-2010 02-15h - Revision:24669.rar

Hi, this svn is stable for me and works fine - after PC restart, but after suspend(S3) and resume is channel changing too slow sometimes.
Petr

I have exactly the same problem on my setup. After hard-reboot of the PC (WinXP SP3, SAF, latest svn), start playing TV is very fast, zapping is very fast. Then I let the PC going to standby (hibernate) and resume it: starting watching TV is now very slow (> 10s), channel zapping is slow (>10s).

This behavior is 100% reproducible. The initial poster gave some logs (on page 22 of this thread), if needed I can also give mine.

This is a very annoying problem, apart from it, this svn seems to be quite stable.

Thanks for the report, I will take a look.;)

Edit: Spoke too soon. The change I had in mind was before 24712. But 24712 has a change that might be related. Are you sure MCE num keys worked in 24712, or did they work before 24712?

When installing this SVN (or older ones) I get the following error:
A reboot is required after a previous action

Both "Setup-MediaPortal-svn-1.0.4.24669.exe" and "Setup-TvEngine-svn-1.0.4.24669.exe" produce this error after starting them. And offcourse I rebooted my machine (10 times already I think) but it still produce the error.
Can some one help with this problem or where can I find logs for these installers so I can provide them here?

    Thanks!

    Try this:
    1.Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\PendingFileRenameOperations
    2.Back up the registry key
    3.Delete the registry key
4.Install the software without restarting the computer first (Restarting the computer may result in the registry key being placed back in the registry before installation.)
5.Restore the registry key from the backup location.

Already tried that, but I didn't have that key so that didn't solve the problem unfortunatly.
    Solved it by a reinstall.

With this latest SVN, i've got loads more dropped / glitches on HD channels; also CPU load is higher.
Using PDVD9 VideoDecoder from Latest SAF & MPC decoder.

All on the ASROCK ION 330; got a 2nd system (ASROCK ION 330) with the SVN24281 + Latest SAF; no glitches/dropped frames (only some @ beginning)

Attached the logs; 1st tried PDVD Video decoder, MPC and then FFDSHOW

EDIT: Added 2nd log; reinstalled MP; Cleaned up all codecs; and reinstalled latest SAF, using PDVD9 Video decoder. There is a high amount of stutter.

Actually no, i'm not sure, but in 246xx it worked anyway, that i'm sure. I build new svn about once a week, and i've builded 712, but i can't remember if i ever installed it.

I've noticed on my ATI card that the latest PDVD decoder in SAF doesn't offload MPEG-2 decoding very well. The ATI and Elecard MPEG-2 decoders use about half the CPU that the PDVD decoder does.

Do you have any good HD recordings that you can try playing to see if they work OK? If they exhibit problems, it might be worth playing them in graphstudio to see if it's a MP or codec problem.

doveman; will do; im gonna expiriment with some codecs; also made a screenshot of the SHIFT+1

    EDIT:
Tried DiVX H.264 Codec; no dropped frames / no Sync Glitches. around 25fps
Tried CoreAVC 2.0 with CUDA, again dropped frames & sync glitches. >30fps

Also tried on a onboard ATI 3200HD system with 9.8 ATi drivers; also dropped frames / sync glitches @ PDVD9

    EDIT2:
Tried my 2nd ASROCK ION 330 system; with SVN24281 installed; connected to same server SVN24669 as 1st ASROCK system; this system as also have the latest **unlocked** saf and is using PDVD9 Video decoder aswell. This system as only initial dropped frames @ start then i runs smoothly @ 50fps; im going to upgrade my 2nd system to 24669; and see what happens to it..
    system1: SVN24669 + latest SAF, using PDVD9 Video decoder: 30-50% CPU load
    system2: SVN24281 + latest SAF, using PDVD9 Video decoder: 10-20% CPU load

    EDIT3:
On my 2nd system with SVN24281; im using the attached TSreader.ax file; and this one is working great. (I think its the one from SVN 23493)

I tested a bit more. I dunno if this helps, but behavior is same if I use mce remote with native support or through IRSS.
    number key won't work.

LiveTV just totally froze on me. Pausing and resuming got the sound back but still a frozen picture. Stopping and restarting got it working eventually.

Starting LiveTV does seem to take about 10 seconds and channel changes about 5.
