Have you considered opening up mantis (or starting a new JIRA or Bugzilla) to control all these user reports? To me all these SVN threads is a giant mess and it seems a large part of the reports gets lost in the mix and forgotten. I think people generally get frustrated with report bugs with full logs, only to have them lie forgotten in an old SVN thread. There must be something better than this.

The situation isn't perfect. However, many of the 'bugs' reported are almost certainly due to conflicts between codecs, corrupt files on users systems and similar. Opening up mantis would result in it being filled with incorrect bug reports that will be impossible to keep track of and fix. The same bug will be reported five times with different wording, and when a moderator deletes it, it will reappear within hours!

Mantis needs to be kept for the bugs that can be confirmed by the team. Inevitably some bugs will be missed, but I think the current, extremely stable, state of MediaPortal is a testament to this approach working.

However, please keep reporting the bugs, keep nagging if they seem to be missed, and above all, please respond to requests for further testing/logs that will actually allow the developers to work out what is going wrong.

When reporting bugs, if bug appears on two different SVN builds, please create a real bug report. SVN threads are pretty good way to bury some error "reports".

great SVN - thank you. However I am not able to export the channels anymore from TV-Server. Message Box: "Exporting channels - please be patient..." - not export file is written to HD. Seems there is a reference problem?

Slightly weird behaviour in LiveTV. Even when I'm at the live point, I can still fast forward, which obviously can't FF but does speed up the audio into chipmunk mode! If I rewind and then fast forward, it does the same thing, not switching back to normal play when it reaches the live point. I'm sure previous SVNs did.

I also tested a selection of AVC MKV/MP4s using first the MPC Video decoder and then the Cyberlink decoder and they both worked about the same (the latter was unusable with the last SVN for some reason), with under 15% CPU on my P4/2600XT. The only difference was that with the Cyberlink decoder, the Quantam of Solace trailer causes both my displays to lose signal and after a while I get a BSOD referring to some ATI file (might have been the ati2mtag mentioned in the System_eventlog) but that's probably a power or driver issue as the same thing happens in MPC-HC. With the MPC Video decoder, that clip maxes out my CPU and makes the PC unresponsive anyway (and the video stays in the preview box, never going fullscreen).

A reboot is required after a previous action

Both "Setup-MediaPortal-svn-1.0.4.24669.exe" and "Setup-TvEngine-svn-1.0.4.24669.exe" produce this error after starting them. And offcourse I rebooted my machine (10 times already I think) but it still produce the error.
Can some one help with this problem or where can I find logs for these installers so I can provide them here?

Hi,

When the mini epg is displayed MediaPortal becomes unresponsive when changing the volume - it recovers after about 10 secs. This happens both on the server and client machines with a range of codecs.

Hi all,

Not sure if its specific to this SVN, but fastforward (possibly rewind) seems very "hit and miss" when watching a AVI via My TV Series.

Various issues/symptoms:

1) Sometimes it takes seconds for the OSD to appear - seems to hang for a little while once the remote has ben pressed. The OSD appears very translucent while its hung, then it responds and appears blue
2) The OSD will state its 2x or 4x or 8x (etc), but the AVI will still be playing at normal speed (doesn't do this all the time) - But does seem to slightly stutter the single speed playback when it should be going faster
3) There are times where the movie does seem to be going at the correct fastforward speed, but the audio is still playing for a while at single speed (surely it would be best to mute audio while going anything other than normal speed)

I have tried this with several different AVIs

My setup is:

Latest SVN (obviously)
Single seat
W7x64
ATI 9.8
Unlocked SAF
SPDIF passthru (for DTS)

Hi,

I would recommend completely uninstalling MediaPortal and TVEngine (full uninstall). Then go to 'Program Files' and delete the entire 'Team MediaPortal' folder, and do the same in 'Program Data' (obviously back up any files you will need!). Then reinstall and see what happens.

This is the first report I have seen of such a problem, and people are installing SVN updates all the time, so I suspect that something is screwed on your system. It might not be, but it's the first thing to check!

What the heck, here's another:
I think the warning dialog when STOP is pressed in LiveTV (timeshift buffer will be lost) is totally unnecessary.

Half of the users think the other way around, maybe they have kids that will push stop button by accident and that causes timeshifting buffer to get deleted. (I personally don't like that feature, but one more stop button press is not that much).

So, that feature is not going to be changed.

Then isn't it to be someway fixed - as now this confirmation pops up only in fullscreen but not in minidisplay nor in MyTV halfscreen ?
And when (if) rework happens - why not to meet the other half of users?

I'm trying to get my issue looked at, but maybe I'm not doing something correctly? I have submitted logs and resubmitted 3 times in this thread, to complete ignorance. I'm happy to be told I'm doing something wrong, or my problem is not with MP, but being completely ignored is a bit grinding when clearly there are developers reading my post.
