I think I fixed my stutter issue. I had Arcsoft Media Splitter taking over Haali, so I deleted all the Arcsoft stuff, checked what was actually running to make sure Haali was going this time and I've had a good hour watching No Country For Old Men 720P MKV without issues.

Hoora for that graph studio program. I had no idea Arcsoft was the cause!

Hello all,

Didn't think about it until yesterday, but since this issue seems to boil down to an overworked GPU, using DVI out instead of HDMI out seems to help greatly, at least on my geforce 9400 mGpu (embedded). Which is logical, since with HDMI, the gpu has to process the sound stream too.

When rendering a 1080i (25fps) stream using a res of 1920x1080@50 I have nearly 1/2 frames dropped with HDMI, and about 1/10 with DVI. Something to keep in mind...

Is there any resolution to this problem for integrated systems. It would appear that I am suffering the same problem.
My 3rd client (ASUS E35M1-I DELUXE) is using Win 7 Ultimate 64bit and CCC 12.3.

I have a local copy of a TV recording and it stutters heavily within MP but plays perfectly when simply dropped in GraphStudio. Other players work correctly too. If GraphStudio can play it correctly, then the hardware is adequate and MP should be able to play it as well.

I started a thread in 4TheRecord but it would appear to be a MP issue. http://www.4therecord.eu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2423

Attached are logs while playing the recorded file locally.

Caleb, When I can find some time this week, I'll try your sample file. I actually installed Reclock and it appears to solve recorded TV problem but it makes Live TV even worse. Not really sure how this can be but that is what I was experiencing.

Matty - from your logs it just looks like a performance problem - does this happen on your other E-350 system ?

What is your CPU usage like when it's playing ?

(and Caleb's problem is different to yours)

Tony, My other E-350 system uses a seperate HD2400 graphics card for component output and and has been running really well for quite some time.
We get the occasional glitches in Live TV and recordings but this is server based not client (replaying always has the same glitch).

It has been suggested that it is a result of being under powered, but I stand by the fact that problematic recorded TV files work perfectly with zero dropped frames when the file is dragged into GraphStudio, or when I manually construct a graph in GraphStudio. What does MP do differently when constructing the graph??

MP is harder on the GPU than most players, because of the way it renders to the screen. That said, usually it's when people try to play interlaced HD TV on low-powered hardware that they have problems - SD TV is normally OK.

Try running MP in windowed mode (which uses less GPU performance) and see if it plays smoothly - this should tell you if it's a GPU related problem.

Other people on the forum seem to be running MP on E-350/E-450's successfully, so maybe it's a settings problem somewhere ?

Have you tried disabling ALL plugins bar FTR, then see if you still have stuttering, I was getting occasional glitches watching live tv when a recording ended and comskip kicked in, that was not the full problem as infoservice (feed Ticker only enabled), was knocking my cpu level up by another 25-30%, disabling that and now with comskip running, no stutter.

Ray, Yes I did try disabling all plugins and still the problem persisted.

I then tried installing the latest BIOS for the board. This also had no effect.

In frustration I decided to re-install, but I remained unconnected from the net and made sure that all drivers installed were from the provided instation CD.
Long story short, I now can play Live and recorded TV within MediaPortal with nearly perfect flat lines (shift 1) and minimal dropped frames. What is interesting I still occasionally get the same heavy stutter when using UNC, but by switching to RTSP, it plays almost perfectly.

It is a bit disappointing that I couldn't actually nail down the exact problem, but at least I now have a working client.
Taking the simplest approach possible, I installed SAF 6.0.9 unlocked and set the codec as ffdshow. No sure why but PDVD did not get installed this time. As it is working I will try to keep my hands off it...

    Many thanks for all suggestion.
    Cheers
