Here are the two logs. I hope they help in isolating the problem.

Yes they did. Are you absolutely sure that you are using the latest dlls? There is some strange lines indicating that you have who knows what version. Download again and try it out.

This log line should not be there and I don't have it -> different versions:

New MediaSlayer will be released soon with network share support. That was completely missing 'cause using stand alone installation.

I have re dnld the dlls and have the new version (beta) of MediaSlayer installed.

Still, with the new dlls I cannot play single iso movie. I have no problem playing stacked iso movies.

New logs.
- test1 is single iso (not mounting/playing)
- test2 is stacked iso's (disc1 and disc2 mounted and played)

You are using view as title not share? Have you tried what happens with share (different code)? If share is working then it is your database that is corrupted or... But if you take logs but title view back - one problem at time.

Here is special version for you where more logging added. File version should be 0.0.0.0 and product version b.e.t.a

I'm doing it the hard way first...

I was able to play a single iso movie from the shares view, but I had trouble getting shares view for the movie drive (G) containing my stacked iso's (got stuck in a waiting loop), I have my single iso's on a different drive (H)... both are local drives.

So I decided to completely rescan my movie share drives and rebuild the database... about 140 movies. but I will only have to manually change about 50 incorrect entries.

I don't usually use share view for movies because the file names are too cryptic for the wife to read.


I'll test things out when it is done.

first up.

I cleared/rescanned/rebuilt my movie database.

I reinstalled old dlls.

MP shows all movies/covers in Title view.
All movies/no covers show in Shares view, both share drives.

in shares view, all indevidual iso's mount and play, both drives
in Title view, all single iso movies mount and play, no stacked iso movies play

next I will put in new dlls (and beta). be back in a bit

Okay, I installed the new core.dll and the beta windowplugins.dll.

I was able to see all movies and covers in Title view.
I was able to play several single iso and stacked iso movies. (yay!!)

I was not able to view shares view, the "busy" animation stayed on the screen til I exited.

Today's new MP SVN has broken fix....

I get shares view, can play single iso's and can play "stacked" iso's individually.
In Title view (which I prefer) I cannot play stacked iso's again (focus locks and I have to exit MP with mouse on top control panel), single iso's work fine.

I was afraid to copy over the new SVN dll's with the above beta dll's. so I'm back where I was.

I spent some time today going over the MediaSlayer skin for Monochrome. I came up with a skin mod for the Monochrome 4X3 skin. It's not 100% what I thought I could do with it, but it is fully functional. It does require that you install the full MediaSlayer plugin package (and probably should have the Monochrome skin installed as well). Just open the zip and drop the MediaSlayer.xml into your Monochrome 4X3 folder.

It could be a starting point for other 4X3 skin designers to add MediaSlayer to their skins.

I hope you find it useful.

Those dlls are using newer code than just plain RC so go ahead and copy over. Furthermore core changes are very rare so a bit different code base doesn't matter. One reason for patch files are there is that everybody can compile what ever version (some Visual Studio versions are free).

Thanks, will add this to plugin installer so it is easier for everybody. Mean time copy also hover_mediaslayer.jpg from media folder for displaying icon at main menu.

There is one problem with current 0.8h version - eject doesn't work anymore, I wonder why?

Great! I'm glad I could contribute.

The fixed dlls are working marvelously (with a 'but'). Same as reported above.

I can play single and stacked iso's from Title view (again, YAY!) ... but, I cannot access Shares view. There is no 'busy' animation ... at least I can still navigate the menu to switch views.

It looks nice in Indigo 4x3 as well (which I prefer)

New release coming soon with cool features. I was able to interact with DVDFab directly (WM_GETTEXT) so we can get progress bar for DVD ripping also. Eject bug will be also corrected. Oh and new skin will be supported.

But the question is can we get rid of DVD Decrypter support once and for all as being old and unsupported prog anyway? And what about main movie support (will not develope that further)?

As Many users already have DVDDecryptor and may have supplemented it with a program like AnyDVD, it still works. Nothing more has to be added to get DVDDecryptor to work with MediaSlayer, maybe it should remain an option, but continue work on DVDFab features. Maybe the option to use one or the other could be selected in MediaSlayer config.

Thought: Keep the old skin (renamed ? MediaSlayer-D) and create a new skin (named ? MediaSlayer-F) for further development? ... I'm not sure if both can exist in one skin if development evolves for DVDFab.

As far as main movie support.... I don't know, I'm pretty stupid at DVD file structure and will probably continue to rip to iso. The only other way might be to provide simple authorware features after ripping, to preview vob's, and assemble a new movie to HDD. Many DVDs have both full and wide screen versions and trying to rip one or the other is impossible to the novice. It might be something helpful in getting individual TV episodes from DVD for MyTVShows. ... ya I know... it's a lot to ask.
