Trying to use the mpeg4 setting to 'rip' a DVD.

I have correctly configured the mediaslayer plugin however when I try to rip the DVD it will progress through the rip in under 5 seconds, generating the output file, but only 20kb in size.

Here are the contents of the media portal log file. It looks like there is an issue with mencoder not liking the right arguments being passed to it?

In all of our attempts to get imgburn, dvdfab, iso rips, etc.. we missed an option for putting movies on a hard disc from dvd. that would be a straight copy of the contents of a disc to the hard drive. We just have to store them each in their own folder (named for the movie, multi discs named accordingly as well like pearl_harbor_disc1, pearl_harbor_disc2) and we are golden. stacking would work correctly out of the gate that way. I am testing the stacking part now, though with pearl harbor.

Mike

ok, stacking does not work out of the box with a striaght copy.

time to try and figure out this whole stacking issue.

HD and BD

Has anyone tried to rip a Blu-ray with Mediaslayer? I did today and was not successful. Mediaslayer seemed to think that my Blu-ray was an audio CD. I was using ImgBurn (which successfully ripped it, outside of MP) and had AnyDVDHD running, so I don't think it's a copy protection issue.

Hi,

:D

Hi,

Something I would like to change (but cannot see a way to do unless you are willing to release the source and I recompile the DLL) and not just for this plugin is the Plugin Name that is displayed.

For example, us geeks know MediaSlayer is what we use to rip Disks, I can explain to my GF (which changes sometimes) which menu to use.

But honestly, Media Slayer is so easy and straightforward, if MediaSlayer could be made to read "Rip Disk", so anyone gets it, goes into the simple screen and can rip whatever they want to rip.

And if we could a small button for "Advanced GUI" on the simple page for those of us who know what they are doing to get at the good stuff perfection would be achieved, as far as I am concerened.

I recently performed Maintainace on my MP Box with 1.0 released and all. While re-setting all settings (I prefer to do clean installs) I noticed the option to rename the Plugin Name displayed in the Menu. Many ThanX, it is appreciated!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I would need to look at home if the icon to toggle advanced gui and standard is also there, but ever which way, AWESOME!

Thank you for an excellent Plugin.

Folks,

Not sure if anyone has come across this. A Friend has a Vista Laptop. As he often uses this to demo High End HiFi Gear in "Computer Audio" mode I set him up with a copy of MP plus MediaSlayer and PureAudio (about the slickes and best sounding option out there).

The problem we encountered was that with ripping CD's with coverart download crashed MS/MP at the point where MS would try to grab the coverart at which MP bombed big time.

With "grab coverart" disabled all works fine and he currently adds the coverart manually.

I suspect there is a stupid security setting or something Vista that interferes with the coverart grab and MP's operation. Any quick ideas where to untick a box or such to make the coverart grab work under Vista?

I have to admit, from my experiences with Vista so far, I F...ing hate this C..p. Staying on XP as long as I can.

I would attach logs etc. but my friends Laptop is halveway around the world and getting him to configure MP for full log and all over the Phone is not something I relish. Will do if no-one else has run into this.

:sorry:

Hi All,
first i have to say that mediaslayer is a great plugin, good work!

But second i have do tell you about my newes problem with mediaslayer. I dont know why, cause i have not in mind that i have changed things that appear to mediaslayer, i cannot rip audio-cds. Last week it works, doday not. DVD ripping works great.

I insert the CD and wait for the autoplay, klick yes and the Album Name would be found in the DB and the ripping will start, but than MediaPortal crashes. I can see the folder on my local disk but no mp3 files.

Logs attached

Was not supported in previous version. Can you try it now. Don't know what will happen 'cause don't have drive nor disc.

I'm using Vista with M$ fw disabled and also UAC. All protection is handled by Comodo Internet Security. It is free and working well. No problems with that setup.

Don't know what has happened and is working ok here. There is now two crashing reports when ripping CD and in same place. Maybe something has changed on the servers you are using for cover art/album info.

    Hi!
For my system your plugin doesn't work, too. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I've installed DVDFab and the Programm works correctly. BUT where in the configuration is an option to set the target path directly to a *.iso file?
When I start ripping an DVD with MediaSlayer the DVDFab GUI opens and hangs...

It says in the first page that with ImgBurn also online decrypter is needed.

For DVDFab question I don't have any idea what you are trying to accomplish. This plugin does not support burning.

Ok ill try to make this clearer. By burn I meant rip. I am running latest version of DVDFab platinum. I have configured the plugin to output iso file in a directory called d:\test. When i run MediaSlayer in MP it starts up DVDFab (dont have the MP always on top flag so I can see what it going on in DVDFab). Once started DVDFab just sits there and waits. I then have to change the output directory in DVDFab and then click start. To me this should be done automatically by MediaSlayer. Am I doing something wrong?

I just tried the last version of it and seems to be DVDFab problem now. They have broken the command line interface. It is behaving just like you said. I have also 5.0.9.0 version and it is working fine.
