    Hey,
I'm using Media Slayer together DVDfab.
    Everything worked perfect, till now.
But now, there appears a "license"-message on starting DVDfab.
I can select "continue with DVDfab" DVDfab is going to ripp the DVD.
So Media Slayer can't get "status" Informations from DVDfab (because the "License"-Windows blocks access to DVDfab GUI).

Is there a way to disable this "license"-window on DVDfab startup?

    (I'm Using DVDfab Version 5.0.9.0)

if you mean to use anydvd to rip the disk to iso, you can't.

Just select internal and make sure that anydvd is set up to run when windows starts and is active. that is the easiest for .iso movies.

The transcode works but I cannot play the movie

Codec issue. FFDShow at least can play.

Hi Manfred. Thanks a lot for that GREAT plugin. It's really awesome.

Im having some problems with Daemon Tools or VCD. The problem is when I play an ISO (mediaslayer created) and then go back (ISO is still playing) and choose another ISO. It seems the first ISO is not being unmounted before the new one is mounted... And then Mediaportal stops and I have to kill the task.

    So I have 2 questions:
1-) Do you also have that problem when playing ISO's? Do you have a solution?
2-) Is it possible to not create an ISO when ripping a DVD, and just copy the VIDEO_TS folder?

    Thanks again,
    Ron

    1. Working fine here with VCD. What logs say?
    2. Not possible and never will be.

    Hi Manfred

Firstly, thanks for a great plugin. I love the audio cd side, it works perfectly for me :D

I do however have a request if at all possible, i would like to have the VIDEO_TS folder copied to my stored DVD's location using for example DVD Decrypter with an online decoder eg. AnyDVD

The command line options I used in my test with DVD Decrypter are:

    DVDDecrypter.exe /MODE FILE /SRC "d:\" /DEST "k:\DVD\[DISC_LABEL]\VIDEO_TS" /START /CLOSE

    My thoughts were as follows:

    1. Add a custom button to browse to select the individual's prefered ripping utility (in my instance, DVD Decrypter)

    2. Add a section where custom command line options could be given for the specific application in configuration (this could help you in not having to implement each single request from every user on different type of output options required eg. VIDEO_TS folder, ISO etc)

    3. Adding the possibility of multiple custom options, that the user can select the apropriate one from the GUI, eg. using different folders to rip to, using different DVD Rom drive letter if more than one DVD Rom in HTPC

    4. Adding the coverart found into the folder where the DVD is saved, as "folder.jpg", for people that use the folder view, to also see the coverart

I dont know how possible this request is, but it will make a huge difference in the ease of use for my family and myself.

    Thanks for your time

    Neil

1&2. Not so easy to support all kind of external progs. There is so much work done behind the scene which doesn't show to user. If it would be so easy this plugin already would support those all.

    3. Destination selection already supported. Create/add movie folders in MP configuration and then you can select it by clicking Video button in GUI.

    4. Ripping movies to own folder was just recently added and this was something I missed. Will add this feature soon.

Is there a way to rip using the "internal" method (to iso) and saving the iso into a folder with the movie name? (so it gets imported correctly with moving pictures)

Yes, select that from MediaSlayer config.

    Hey,
first off all, thank you for this plugin, but I have a silly question: What do I have to chose so that I can use AnyDVD in combination with this plugin? It's clear that I have to chose "Online decrypter installed", but than I can only select "Internal", "Imgburn", "Mencoder" or "DVDFab". Needn't I add the path to AnyDVD?

    Thanks in advance :)

AnyDVD is just decrypter in background and on top of that you have the ripper (selection in setup). So AnyDVD mapping is not needed by the plugin.

How about full version ;) Maybe there is some kind of a counter which now triggers that message?!? You have ripped too many discs :D

I wish there was a better way to get the name of the movie. I saw you removed the metadata look up from M$.

I don't understand how when I put in a disk (dvd) under many other programs (dvd profiler, my movies 2 plugin for media center, moving pictures plugin on MP) that media slayer can't automatically pull the disc information like those programs do.

I do understand that many discs won't pull for various reasons, but even if it pulled half of the discs I enter, that is better than none. the way it stands now, I have to manually enter all the info for every movie. it seems this could be improved.

My suggestion is this, and in this order.

    1. automatically pull the disc info (mainly movie name) from where ever the moving pictures plugin is pulling theres from. If found, use that and ask the user to ok the use of it.
    2. if not found, use the DVD LABEL and present the user with the current options.
    3. if the DVD LABEL actually comes back as "DVD LABEL" or "DVD_LABEL" (i have several discs like this) then skip the prompt for the user and just bring up a window saying no name found, press OK button to enter the name manually.

Doing it this way would pull as many movies as correctly as possible automatically and with basically just a single click to rip the disk.

    that would be great.

It would be really awesome if this ripper would work more like the "my movies 2" plugin for Vista Media Center. That one works really well and is so simple and easy to use, the WAF goes up greatly.

    thanks for listening.

What! How can you tell without looking the source what has been removed or added. M$ support is there - nothing removed. And it is working if configured properly. Please read the first page and notes there if you are using AnyDVD. That is something AnyDVD has decided in their great wisdom??? And when you have regedit open you can see why other programs are working.

    READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST!!!

Sorry about that. I skimmed the first page and didn't read it entirely.

Also, I saw a few version back:
    1.1a:
    - new internal ISO builder
...... no M$ library dependency as in previous version

I thought that meant that it had been removed.

Sorry about that. I will make the reg change and try again.

I am upgrading from a quite a bit older version so there was a lot to catch up on.

    thanks for setting me straight.

I agree. I took it well. I could tell you probably were having a bad day. it was not your normal tone for responses.

Still, I should have read better. And it is working GREAT.

Amazing what 1 little reg key does!!!

    thanks again

    Logs show 404 error

When i attempt to rip a DVD it stops at "Analyzing disc". I have tried a couple of different discs with the same result.

The log (attached) reveal a "404" error without any detail.

I am using mencoder, dvd43, imgburn.

Any ideas how to correct this?

    Thanks,

    Ben

Heh, M$ has moved/changed service and plugin was badly coded in that situation. I also found new place to grab the info. We might need this address as parameter if it keeps changing. Please try this - should be ok now.
