When i attempt to rip a DVD it stops at "Analyzing disc". I have tried a couple of different discs with the same result.

The log (attached) reveal a "404" error without any detail.

I am using mencoder, dvd43, imgburn.

Any ideas how to correct this?

    Thanks,

    Ben

Heh, M$ has moved/changed service and plugin was badly coded in that situation. I also found new place to grab the info. We might need this address as parameter if it keeps changing. Please try this - should be ok now.

Thx, the patch solved the problem :D

    good morning,

in the requirements on the first page it says :
    - Online decrypter for DVD ripping, not needed when only DVDFab used
    - MPlayer and Mencoder for Mpeg4 encoding. Note that also online decrypter needed.

i just have a question about "online decrypter"? what is an online decrypter? is it a decrypter that is on the internet somewhere, do i have to be connected to the internet to use it?

    thanks

    Hi,
an online decrypter is a program running in the background that decrypts the encryption of DVDs wich is called CSS (Content Scramble System). CSS should have the same effect like a copy protection.

For example AnyDVD is such a program that works in the background (in the tray), decrypts that "copy protection" on the fly, so that any copy or ripping program doesn't even see the encryption at all. ;)

ps. Only to give you the complete information: I also have to say that in some countries (like here in germany ) it is not very legal to use those programs for the purpose of making copies of a DVD - even if you own the original...

One note about decrypters. DVD43 is only for CSS (not 100% sure) and e.g. mencoder can handle that very well. Unfortunately there are all kind of different methods to prevent copying and best tool to handle all is AnyDVD. So if ripping is stopped with error that might be one reason. Keep this in mind when just saying it doesn't work.

I will try to update the plugin soon with fix posted couple of messages back and also with new feature that stores movie art as folder.jpg if directory feature is in use.

    DVD iso file not playing

    hi Manfred,
Firstly excellent ripping tool..perfect. I just installed Media Portal so I am a newbie (pls excuse if my questions sound stupid) and yours was the first tool I used. Had the same error message as someone else "Analysing the disk".. but your new patch fixed it.

However I have a problem. When I load up the movies that I had ripped, it does show up with cover art and everything else, but it doesnt play. I used imgburn to do iso file format ripping. And i can see my .iso files in teh folder, but I tried to play it and it doesnt play. I then used vlc player as an external player to try to play the iso files, but the player comes back to me with an error message relating to something "video_TS". Vlc plays the file externally ie if i exit media portal and just use vlc to play the iso file, it plays it, but when i use it within Media Portal as an external player, it doesnt do it..

Can you or anyone else help me with this please. Thanks

    Kris

Have you added .iso to the list in MediaPortal Config->Videos -> Video Extensions? If not give that a go....

Thanks Bleazle, yes I did add the .iso extension.. checked and double checked that. infact prior to installing vlc, when i used to click on the coverart in my videos list, it dint do anything, ie no error, no play. I am frustrated cos I really like Media Portal, and this is the last thing that I need to get going before I load up all my movies. I just loaded up 4 discs to test things out. I am using VIsta Ultimate

Sorry, that's all I've got for you - hopefully someone with more knowledge about this stuff helps you out.
