hey i finally sussed out how to set it up, this is what I did

    Firstly download milkdrop from here

    http://www.nullsoft.com/free/milkdrop/milkdrop_104.exe

once downloaded install it, then run winamp and configure the plugin to create an ini file

you then copy these files from c:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins

    vis_milk.dll
    milkdrop_config.ini

    and paste them into c:\Program Files\Team Mediaportal\Mediaportal\Musicplayer\plugins\visualizations

    next copy the whole folder c:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\Milkdrop to c:\Program Files\Team Mediaportal\Mediaportal\Musicplayer\plugins\visualizations

    that should be it

run mediaportal config and the new visualizations should show up

Thanks, madcircle for your detailed instructions for milkdrop visualizations

I have followed them , but the milkdrop vizualizations dont show in config

I am using ver V0.2.2.0 stable release of media portal

    i have put the files in D:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MusicPlayer\Plugins\visualizations

vis_milk.dll milkdrop_config and the milkdrop folder from winamp

the only thing i see different is yours says milkdrop_config.ini

And mine says milkdrop_config , nothing in winamp folder milkdrop_config.ini

    Thanks......

hey again, milkdrop_config.ini is exactly what you have its just not showing the filename extension. i have since updated from 0.2.2.0 to 0.2.3.0 RC1 and then decided to downgrade again and have completely lost all my milkdrop visulatizations. i have done exactly what i did in the above instructions and as you say it does not show up. i have no idea why ans i havent done anything different to the first time. i will continue to try and figure out how to get these going again and update you once i have done so...

this post here says to do exactly what i have described but in less detail so im confused

I have finally got milkdrop visualizations to work
You need Release Candidate V0.2.3.0 RC1 for it to work
You will have to uninstall Stable Release V0.2.2.0 , make sure after you uninstall, you deleate the program folder in program files, Team MediaPortal, it still leaves files in the folder after you uninstall , so you have a fresh install

copy milkdrop_config and and the milkdrop folder from winamp , and download this

    http://milkdrop.us/zips/vis_milk105beta6.1.dll

And and paste all them into c:\Program Files\Team Mediaportal\Mediaportal\Musicplayer\plugins\visualizations

Then go into config music ,visualizations, and you then should see the milkdrop visualization milk105beta6.1 there to select....

i never did anything else , just played music worked first time full screen , and back

hope it works for you this time ... good luck

If you’re planning to submit a pull request, let’s go through the list of issues and their solutions. I or someone from the team will create a Jira ticket, and for each ticket, you’ll make the changes and submit a pull request. This will be transparent and straightforward.
