AeonMod Editor (test version)

I have been playing round with this, did not like the way you had to chose the skin directory.

This version now looks at MediaPortalDirs.xml for the location of the skin directory and automaticaly loads Basichome.

Also added a drop down box for background image selection.

All works ok on both by systems, 1.0.2 Live and 1.1 Alpha but would like to get it tested just to make sure it is ok before I am happy.

EDIT (16/8/08): Updated to version V1.0.12.0 as there was an error reading skin file location on MP 1.0.2

No problem, I have created a google code project for this (found HERE), latest version will always be here.

Early stages but this will have editor and the support files, hope to finish this off tomorrow - just adding Twitter support.

thanks trevor the new basic home editor works very well, I don't have the prob of the weather on all options, only showing as it should be on the weather selection.

A while back you suggested pulling this together into a new thread, it might be worth doing this, as a noob would have to hunt through this thread for the skin files etc.

Maybe take vergo's first post update it and use it as the start of the new thread and keep it updated (with all files needed, your editor, link to mpinfoservice, aeon moving pic mod etc) as opposed to various fixes posted in this thread?

I suspect you'd be the best person to take ownership of the new thread as you seem to be the most active!

As you may have seen I have colected all the parts together that make up the Aeon / Infoservice Mod, I have not created a new thread as there is already a thread for the Aeon menu Mod, will see if I can link into that.

The google code page is now up and running and has downloads of the latest editor version and support files. I am still working on this and would welcome suggestions of improvements or additions.

On a side note I have just seen the new XMBC Transparency! by Ronie skin, now there is a skin crying out for a port - had a play and converted the weather screen with the look...

Transparency! is grand.. though the fonts Ronie chooses to use are a bit ugly.. Wish someone could port it and port the Aeon skin completely.

However, I used your new Generator, and I still have the 5 days weather showing on all items.. Could you please fix it for me..?

Jave looked at ported the current Aeon but you lose a fair bit as MP1 skin engine is not really up to the task.

For you issue can you please edit the menu, remove the plugis, settings and weather, save then re-edit and add them back and let me know if that fixes it.

There is an issue around those items which I still have to find, a copy your current Basichome would be useful as well as I am finding it tricky to recreate the issue.

I've had a play with transparency in XBMC (I dual boot MP on vista w/XBMC on win7) and it is damn good, but I agree with the comments above, the font ruins it.

The Aeon mod certainly makes the home screen look as good, b ut transparency wins in the sub menus etc (as does the original Aeon).

Installed MediaPortal for a friend of mine.
I've never updated my own system yet, because I liked the Aeon skin so much and never found anything that came close ... until I saw this thread.
Installed StreamedMP now, with all the mods/tools made available by Vergo and Trevor.

Trevor, you mentioned porting the weather screen form XMBC Transparency ... any chance on a full port (with a different font)?
That skin would be my personal choice if it would be ported.
Unfortunately I havent got a clue how to do this, or I might even have a go at porting it myself.

My additions to the mod

Hi Vergo,

I like to submit my edits to the mod.

- basic home overlay edit - I moved it to middle left of the screen just above the directory bar because it is quite ugly when it appears over the weather forecast

- my weather - I edit it to use the 64x64 icons in the 5-day forecast.

- Weather icons for the 64x64 folder based on Tick's theme
