Hi,

Are there any plans to implement movie sets into Moving Picturesso that groups such as the Harry Potter series have one cover and then you can enter this and all the films are displayed as normal.

You can stay notified on the progress by 'starring' the issue in question on the google code project site via: http://code.google.com/p/moving-pictures/issues/detail?id=229

If you want movie set grouping right now, you can try the IMDb+ plugin. Simply use the "MediaPortal Extension" shortcut on your desktop and via "Known Extensions" you can add IMDb+ to your system. If it does not show up, then switch to the "Options" tab first and update your listing via "Download online update info" button first.

The result will then show like this inside MovingPictures (screenshot from older default skin):

Each movie will still be shown indvidually, but grouped and listed in the correct order, which is especially useful for series which have very different titles, such as the "Grindhouse" example shown in the screenshot.

It is not exactly what you want with the single cove via like a [+] collapsable series entry, but it is the closest you can get right now.

Thanks Rochess. I have be using IMDB+ for quite a while and it does a fantastic job of grouping the title together (is this still in developement by the way, not seen an update for a while), what I'm looking for now is the next step, the graphical interface side where its one cover to open to then see all the covers in the collection (make sense??).

Yeah, the "[+] Series Title" idea makes total sense and if you read the MovPic Google Code issue ticket is also one of the suggested ways to show it in GUI.

However it is definatly one of those "easier said then done" things.

No matter what; it is not something I could do via the IMDb+ system, so it will have to come from the MovPic developers.

As far as IMDb+ goes, I put out a new plugin version that bundles all the supported foreign language files and includes support to update MediaInfo. But it is more of an easier way to make first-time installation easier (or the dreaded reinstall), so it wouldn't do you much good if you already had it installed, as the IMDb+ plugin auto-updates the scraper-script and default rename database anyway.

I do have some enhancements on the ToDo list still, but some require C# knowledge which I don't have so it takes time to learn or wait for experts to give a helping hand. And the always raging battle of finding the time to do it all

Yeah, looking for somthing like this too. Especially for the James Bond movies.

The issue was open for 1.5 years when I realized it was something I really wanted for my own collection. Not being able to help on the C# side to get this issue fixed into MovingPictures, I was making a lot of progress with my IMDb+ scraper-script at the same time (originally created to get Rottentomatoes ratings and fix the 'English' title problem for foreign movies) and a year later on April 4th 2011 came up with a way to at least group series by renaming their titles during import, i.e: "James Bond XXI: Casino Royale".

It's far from ideal, because I'd love a single entry "[+] James Bond Series (23)" as well that can be expanded to show all the 22 official movies (and the 1 unofficial) from the series, with the new Skyfall soon added, but at least it is something.

The developers of Moving-Pictures plugin are just busy with real-life and it is hard to juggle a large project like this in the limited free time available. So hopefully their schedule will clear up, or somebody with a lot of C# knowledge will step in and tackle this issue. It is open source afterall so anybody can help and supply patches that can then be merged into the next official release. Another four years from now I might have picked up enough C# to tackle the issue myself, but in the meantime I use my own IMDb+ to get by

Yeah, that surely makes sense. I thought of it more like a JavaScript approach, i.e. the same way drop down menus on web sites are created.
Either way, looking forward to having that feature any time soon
