Tnx for the new beta's! Like the new features :)

a thingie i noticed is that MP wants to load the fanart and movieposter from every movie i pass when i scroll the movielist. This causes MP to slow the scrolling considerably. I think this is not resolved by increasing the load fanart delay because MP want to load them all and not skip the ones that are passed when scrolling.
In 0.7.5 i did not notice this, is this 'new' or am i missing something?

I agree with you... Mediaportal (Moving Pictures) Is extemely slow when scrolling fast....
It should not load fanart when scrolling fast... And only load coverart... When you stop the fast scrolling, and scrolling slow.. It should load the fanart again..

It is designed to load one backdrop at a time, but not necessarily every one. So if you scroll through ten items in the list but that was enough time to only load three backdrops then you will probably only see the first, maybe the sixth and the last. So it does basically what you are suggesting, although its adaptive to show more as your system is able.

To be clear reasmuskarlsen the slowness you are also reporting is with Moving Pictures Beta 2?

I just switched to 1.01 the beta2. I dont see the scrolling issue. Its nice and fast, just like you describe it in your post. :)

The thing I thought of, which could be related / causing the issue, is the way the remote works. It doesnt have to be related to the plugin.
I have an IMON Display with built in IR. It works with simulated keystrokes. When holding down a button, down, you can specify the delay befor it starts to repeat. also, the repeat speed can be specified. I myself am using the MCE receiver from microsoft, and not the built in IR from IMon.
What is the programmed delay logic from movingpictures side? (is there a set time?) Could it be the repeat speed is just low enough to make moving pictures think it needs to show the fan art? Maybe it can be tested/ruled out by using a real keyboard in stead of the remote.

Well, I am just trying to think possible causes for this. Trying to contribute. But if what I am saying here is a load of .. bul... nonsense, just say so as well.. I can take it. ;-)

tnx for the input, but..... using a mce remote and receiver ;)

the thing is with 0.7.5 scrolling was blazing fast because the images were not loaded. And with tv-series it still is. With MP1.01b2 every movie image is loaded and is slowing my system.
Checked this morning if it really is every movie image when trying to scroll, and it really is every image. It does not skip any movie, MP really tries to display them all when i am scrolling.

I did a little research and can not reproduce any slow down between Beta 1 and Beta 2. There will probably be a slight speed decrease between 0.7.5 and 1.0 because we are simply doing more. With logos and mediainfo support more is being sent to the skin. Even these things are delayed though so the impact should be minimal.

The remaining factor is a known issue in the latest releases of MediaPortal (1.1 Beta) that causes facade performance to slow down. This has already been resolved and will be available with the next release of MediaPortal. So if you are experiencing slower performance in the GUI and you also just upgraded to MediaPortal 1.1 Beta at the same time, this is most likely the cause. If anyone still feels there are issues with facade performance open a new thread and we can discuss further.

How do I stop it from scrolling thru my movies automatically? It keeps changing to different movie titles every few seconds. The bottom where it says PAGE keeps jumping to different pages and highlighting different movies???

thanks again

I am glad that Rayures had the same problem as I, and I am glad there has been some progress on this.

I had the exact same problem, super slow down going from 0.75 to 1.0b1, (and thus MediaPortal 1.1). Just tried Moving Pictures 1.0b2 and while it is faster, it is still nothing compared to the speed of .75 on MediaPortal 1.0.

When is the next release of Media Portal going to be released?
