Re: Moving Pictures 1.0 Beta 2 Available

Hi,

just some short questions.

1.
I am using version 1.0.1.1001 and I am not sure if this is the last Beta, is it?

2.
Is it possible to use jpg instead of png for the covers and backdrops, cuz the png's are much bigger than the jpg's and it really slows down the speed of scrolling thru the movies.

jpg between 300 to 500kb
png between 3 to 6mb *uhhhh*

3.
Is it possible to add a button for the backdrop path to change them easily, like the button "load cover art from file" under "movie manager". I am asking because not all of the backdrops are recognized, about 100 of 300 and I have to add the path to them manually. It is ok for maybe 10 but for 100 - it is a bit too much.

4.
I noticed that in catavolt's pure skin some of the xml files for moving pictures are already existing. Do I have to change them with the xml files from moving pictures?

Thanks for your help and I am sorry if some of my questions are already answered.

Alternatively - Save the backdrop as backdrop.jpg in the same folder as the movie. Save the dvd cover as folder.jpg in the same folder as the movie. Moving Pictures will automatically use the backdrop/cover when it imports, (instead of getting backdrop/cover from the internet) this will save you adding a path to them manually. PS - Moving Pictures will also recognise backdrop.png / folder.png

Yes, at the time I posted this 1.0.1 is the latest beta. It "friendly name" is Beta 2. I realize this is slightly confusing, sorry about that. The latest version will always be available on our Google Code page.

I am not sure why you think JPGs are faster. We have always used PNGs, it's just that in the past we had the wrong extension on there (oops!). If you are experiencing a slow down it is unrelated to the backdrop file type. For what it's worth though there is a known issue in recent versions of Mediaportal that causes facade slow downs. This is fixed for the next MediaPortal SVN.

We are planning on adding this, it just has not been the number one priority lately. The problem is that it requires quite a bit more than "just adding a button". We need to rework the backend to support easier manipulation of backdrops.

The skin files distributed with Moving Pictures are for Blue3 and Blue3Wide only. They will not work correctly if placed in the skin folder of different skin.

    Thanks all

Oh, I thought it has to do with the pngs. I deleted all backdrops and the scolling was much better then. I am using the last MP and SVN and with Moving Pictures 0.7.5 the scrolling was really fast. That why I thought it has to do with Moving Pictures.

    Hello,

I have the entire Planeth Earth Blu Ray collection stored on my harddrive. I setup an external player (TMT) for this in moving pictures. When I want to play it with my external player, it works fine.

But I also setup the refresh rate changing thing in the advanced options. But this doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

I'm using Beta 2 of this excellent piece of software.

The automatic refreshrate changer doesn't work with external players. It's a Mediaportal thing, not a MovPic thing ;)

But there is a option now in the advanced settings! And it doesn't work.

Re: Moving Pictures 1.0 Beta 2 Available

Ive got another question. Is there a limitation for the number of files in a folder? For example, im trying to add a network folder with about 300 Files, but no movie appears in the "media importer" list after adding the network path to the "media sources" list. But if I select a single movie it works...

Im not sure but I think it worked in the previous version, but its some time ago since I used the old version... Is it possible to install the previous version over the new one? Or have I to completly remove Moving Pictures first?

    Merry Christmas!

Are you using UNC paths or are you using mapped drives?? Ex. \\Tower\Media\Films\Movie\ vs. X:\Media\Films\Movie\... I'm leaning towards you're using mapped drives because I had issues like that in the past with them. Try using a straight UNC path instead of a mapped drive.
