Re: UPDATED: Moving Pictures 1.0 RC Available

You could turn off Categories, that should speed things up quite a bit however you'd be sacrificing some functionality. Honestly though the system you are building simply does not barely meets the minimum system requirements of MediaPortal...

Categories makes no difference, I had already turned it off.

Minimum requirements aside, it has no problem running My TV Series with 20+ series and close to 1500 episodes. Yet Moving Pictures with 17 movies is pretty much unusable.

1) What is moving pictures doing when you fire it up that takes 12-15 more seconds than My TV Series?
2) What is moving pictures doing that would cause a pause each time you move to the next movie? Getting mediainfo from the particular file?

I'm just thinking that maybe this is the same issue that several others have reported about here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/moving-pictures-284/scrolling-77842/

I created a node "Persons" and under that node "actors", "authors", "directors". It takes already minutes to ender the "root-node" - again minutes to enter e.g. "actors". Is there anything I can do to speed it up (except of deleting movies/actor infos - there are several thousand actors finally in the list)?

I hope it helps but I have the same problem(s) as mentioned above. Moving pictures is very sluggish and yesterday it messed up the whole mp.
The screen started to flicker etc. The stable version is a gem.
By the way I am using latest beta MP

The category system by default has an "unwatched" menu entry. And you can also enable filters via the context menu (F9 on keyboard, and whatever remote control button you use for it), so you can go to say Genre -> Comedy and then enable filter for unwatched.

Perhaps you forgot to update your skin, it needs to have support for this new category system. Try the default included Blue3Wide (or Blue3 for SD) skin, so you can see exactly what is supported. And then hunt down for updates to the skin you use to include support.

    hi,

just one question because its still not clear to me: is the xbmc scraper or the nfo-reading importing all data directly out of the nfo-file or just reading the imdb id? i have read different things about this ;)

what i want is no online scraping anymore, just scrape all infos out of the nfo-file in each movie folder, but thats not working until now, is that right?

    nicx...

    hello,

sorry to post this message in this forum but I'm no English and I do not understand the procedure for creating a post on the bug list.

I would like to report a bug at a new relocation moving picture, I wanted to copy the old database on the news. all data are present except the jacket (cover), is there a way to recover.

thank you and congratulations for your plugin

There are two NFO scraper systems supported.

1 = Simple NFO method, that opens an NFO file, and tries to look for the IMDb-ID, as in tt......, after that it gets all the other information via the IMDb scraper.
2 = Advanced NFO, using the XBMC NFO format, this will allow import from other solutions then MediaPortal, or transfer/backup/recover a MePo setup easy by retaining all the custom modifications. There is a handy app on the forum to create XBMC NFO files based on your existing MePo database, including artwork.

To make #2 work, you need to place the XMBC scraper in 1st position, as by default only the primary scraper gets auto-approval permission.

Verify the data folder for MediaPortal (located in %ProgramData% on Vista/Win7, %AllUserProfile% for XP), and look for the 'thumbs' folder. In here are all the backdrops/covers stored inside the subfolder "MovingPictures". If you can no longer locate the old files, then don't worry, MovingPictures will reget all the missing files as a background process. It might take a while, but on average the covers and backdrops aren't very large in size, so it can do it fast.
