    Category support for Blue3Wide skin?

Gave the old faithful (I'm talking about Blue3Wide) a run, and noticed that it doesn't include support for Categories. I did however use StreamedMP to install MovingPictures, and not the standalone installer, so I might have missed this support because of this. So, does the installer come with updated Blue3Wide files?

Or grab the ZIP file and get the updated B3, B3W and even B3W (Old) skins from it.

The installer is preferred method, because you need to do a lot of manual copying otherwise to make sure all the files go to their right locations, but for those that prefer it: MovPic ZIP

Sadly there are currently only two options for DVD support Piero, import DVDs into your library permanently or do nothing at all. We are definitely planning to make this more flexible in the future though, we just haven't gotten there yet.

To add to that, the situations are:

    • DVD is part of your collection = you want to keep the entry in your list, so you can select the movie and then be notified to insert the media
    • DVD is temporary (rental/borrow/etc) = you do not want to keep a reference

However, it is impossible to know beforehand via automatic means which situations matches the DVD you insert. But you can easaly correct this afterwards by enabling the option to delete entries via GUI (open MovingPictures configuration to enable). So that way you can just delete the entries that are temporary.

If your main usage is playback of temporary DVDs, then just disable the automatic import process.

Perhaps a future enhancement for MovingPictures would be to seperate the selection of auto/manual import process on media files (AVI/MKV/etc) and optical media. But this is what fforde already linked to, as it is an existing issue.

My main usage is playback of temporary Blurays, too. So, I would like to disable the Automatic Import process, but then I'm not able to start the disc from within Moving Pictures.

How is it possible to delete a movie from within Media Portal? I already checked the "delete entries" option in the configurator, but pressing the "delete" key on the keyboard is doing nothing. Am I missing something?

I'm use Moving Pictures 1.0.4 with Media Portal 1.1 RC1.

It should be under the "Context Menu", after you enable the option in configuration. The default key for this on keyboard is F9. It depends on what remote you have as to what button to use, but you can use MediaPortal configuration to adjust this.

Feature Request: New Sort Options: Blu Ray, Xvid, DVD Rip and so on :)

It is pretty trivial to setup categories in the menu system for these things. In the config screen on the GUI Settings tab click the Define Movie Categories button. You may have to play around with things a few minutes but its fairly strait forward to tweak and adjust your menu.

thanks for the tip. i added a filter video codec(in the configuration, the filter shows me all videos per codec), saved and started moving pictures, but there are only the old categories yet.
    do you have an idea?

    Performance:

Ok, personally Moving Pictures 1.0 RC performance has been perfect for me. BUT, I'm running an E6850 3.0GHZ C2D, 4GB RAM, 60 GB SSD, 5750 GPU.

I've been working on setting up Media portal for my buddy, he has gone the affordable route via the Acer Aspire Revo 3610. Basically the Atom 330, 2 GB ram, ION graphics aka Nvidia 9400 and we put in his old 128 GB SSD from his laptop.

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 today, MP 1.1 RC and Streamed MP 1.0 RC.

Moving Pictures is unbareable on his machine. You click on My Movies and it takes 15-20 seconds to start. 1-2 seconds delay when scrolling between movies.

I know the Atom isn't very powerfull but My TV Series works just fine. Loads within a 3-4 seconds and moving around in the series/season and episodes is instantanious and very responsive.

    Any ideas?

Re: UPDATED: Moving Pictures 1.0 RC Available

You could turn off Categories, that should speed things up quite a bit however you'd be sacrificing some functionality. Honestly though the system you are building simply does not barely meets the minimum system requirements of MediaPortal...
