The next release has OFDB support. It's coming soon. In 0.5.5c though the only data source is the English language IMDb site.

A Few feature requests as we move forward that I don't see presently.
Sorting: Names, Genre, etc...
Search by title
Recently Added view perhaps for the last 25 or 50 titles added to the DB.

Sorting and Filtering will be coming soon. I have some ideas how I want to implement that. This would cover "recently added" functionality and a quite a few other things. Searching will sort of be in the next release. Armand has implemented a searching feature using a remote where if you type on the keypad of the remote (cell phone style) the list will be filtered by what you have typed. We'll post more details upon release, but for "remote control" users this will be a really nice feature.

Logo support idea

When logo support is happening, will there be some sort of formatting rules like in MP TV series (that the users has to import) or could there be a more dynamic way/using the rules more dynamically?

It would be cool if you could save a set of rules for each skin (if you're like me and like to mix it up) and have them accessible from the gui (complete with custom naming, like "Icon style -> Aeon Wide | Monochrome | Black & White | etc." ) This would set a different path for the logos directory etc.

Just wanted to say that your plugin has already replaced the standard My Videos plugin in my HTPC. Thanks for all your efforts. Some unexpected behaviour, but considering it is a beta release, very good work.

I agree with you completely on having different sets of rules for different skins. The way I see it "logo support" should be treated as an extension to the skinning engine and when the user swaps for a new skin, a new set of rules defined by the skin designer should be loaded. So based on this mind-set, I was planning on implementing logo support by allowing skin designers to specify a set of logo rules right in the skin XML file. I was thinking a set of defines at the beginning of the skin file, each with a single "logo rule" that defines a condition and an image control to toggle visibility of. Or something like that. Feedback is definitely welcome I have not spent much time thinking about this thus far.

In general though I agree with the approach you're suggesting.

Thanks for the feedback we are working hard on the plug-in. Out of curiosity was there anything specifically that seemed to be behaving unexpectedly?

The first time I used it, a new file wasn't picked up automatically. Since I couldn't find a button to start a scan myself, I deleted the entire moviefolder from the list ( thereby clearing the database). When I readded the folder, it didn't find all the movies, which might had something to do with my internet connection. Anyway, after a couple times and manually deleting the database and all the backdrops and coverart, it now sees everything and automatically adds new files. Nothing really specific and might have been partially my own fault.
Recovery rates for the backdrops are very good, coverart less. For instance the movies X2, Hoodwinked and REC I had to add myself. Some runtimes are not picked up from IMDB.
Again, very good plugin and nice xml to go with the Monochrome skin. Especially like the extra information you get, when clicking a movie once. Keeps the filmlist much tidier.

I'm not shure if it is a bug but i'm a little but confused. The plugins does no find any cover for Death Proof is this movie so unpublic that there is really no cover? Is it possible that in filmstrip view is a placeholder for movies without covers?

Hi,

I only found this plugin today, and wanted to say thanks. It is exactly what I need. It is a pain in my videos to switch between shares and other views depending on whether files are in IMDB.

I do have a couple of requests. I notice from other posts that you are in touch with gamejester, who has done some excellent work modifying the IMDB search and cover retrieval.

I have all of my files in their own folders, along with a jpg file for the high res art. It would be great to have a setting to automatically use this art if it is there.

The skin files (I'm using the generic 4:3 ones which someone kindly posted) don't look quite right. It would also be great to have skin files for the new blue3 4:3 skin, and for the 16:9 skin when it is released. I guess we may have to beg Harley to support this plugin.
