AW: MP crashes during recording playback

Hi

I'm also having this kind of crash. It happened while zapping TV (watch TV).

It happened several times with 1.1.0 RC1, but not with 1.1.0 BETA.

The same type of crash is also happening here. I always wake up from standby then I'm watching TV and recording some other show at the same time. Not always but at least once per day MP will crash when watching the recording. The MS crash dialog always refers to MSCORWKS.DLL.

Ongoing recording / server side shouldn't affect the issue.

I have two logs from the crash. The log from 8th of Mars is when using StreamedMP as skin and al sorts of plug-ins :) The second log from 11th of Mars is when all extra plug-ins are disabled (not IRSS plug-in though as I need the remote) and the skin is Blue3wide. AudioDualMono is not enabled.

Unfortunately logs are quite useless when the TsReader hits a hard crash. There is no visible evidence in that case that would tell what was happening.

My profile is up to date with my sustem specs a part from the plug-ins and skin I described above for the different logs.[/QUOTE]

My assumption is that it is not related to any 3rd party plugin, but only in TsReader.ax (I personaly don't use any other 3rd party in my HTPC plugins than the Arcsoft player plugin :)).

I'm happy to help out with the issue in anyway that u think I can.

There are few things you could try. I haven't seen the crash for few weeks now (I have been using post RC1 TsReader version that has some other fixes, maybe those are curing or at least hiding the hard crash as well). I have attached the TsReader.ax into this post, please test with it and report back if it makes any difference to the issue. If that doesn't help then we need to use debug version of TsReader.ax on your HTPC and then try to collect some crash dump from it...

Do you see the same MSCORWKS.DLL as the DLL where crash happens?

tourettes: I've had a similar crash a couple of times. In one occasion I attached VS debugger to see where it crashed and then I saw the real exception which was "buffer overrun".

.NET adds guard cookies on the stack in each call, and if those are corrupt on return it throws the "buffer overrun" exception. However by the time you hit the exception all stack trace is lost and tracking the source of the problem is impossible. Not sure though that this is a TsReader issue.

hmm... if it can also be a C# side issue then we have huge amount of code that could cause it.

I get this error aswell. I find it quite easy to replicate though.

I just play a movie skip forward a couple of minutes. Stop. Continue doing this down my list of movies until I get the error.
This usually happens within 10 movies.

I have now tried with the new tsreader but got the same crash as before. This time I did not watch a recording but was watching liveTV. I had one recording ongoing on another chanel. The same crash symptoms as before, picture becomes black audio is in a loop for about 30 seconds and then the MS crash dialog. I have attached the dialog screenshot if it is of any help.

    Any more ideas for troubleshooting?

Having the same issue (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...p-just-crashed-possibly-changing-cards-79451/) just watching TV (I think one of the issues may have been on changing channel.

Is there anything I can do to help debug this issue as it is a fairly big problem...

I guess a version of TSReader with more logging would not help as it is a hard crash and nothing useful would be output?

I can now confirm that this is not a tsreader issue. I just got the crash playing a h264 encoded video file (.mkv) via the TV-series plugin. I used CoreAVC for video and ffdshow for audio (DTS). The same MS crash dialog as in the other crashes when playing .ts files.
