    started mp (1.20 + black glass skin, was doing the same thing on 1.1.3 + black glass skin. don't think skin change fixed, but don't remember if I tried).
    went to liveTV
    selected channel 3 (HD) ->happy
    changed to tv2 (HD) ->happy
    changed to U (SD) ->hang

    screen stays on the previous channel with still shot, and it has control of video. [ctrl]+[shift]+[esc] for task mangler opens TM, but it's in background screen and unavailable, so [ctrl]+[alt]+[del] requited to get to task mangler there and then I can get to 'applications' to end task (didn't use end process or end process tree in case it messed over the watchdog).

    happy to post further logs (server or whatever) but may need some direction as to exactly which files are needed.

    the server is win7 (sp1) with MP1.20 and is a dual core AMD with ATI6570 vid card.
    it does not suffer this issue, only the client computer.

    It's hanging (I think) because the video frame size is changing but the video stream type (H264) isn't - and the video decoder can't handle this on-the-fly size change, I suspect.

    You could try the TsReader version here - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/793405-post143.html - which should force a graph rebuild in this situation and probably fix the problem.

    Hi Tony

    *Big* thanks as always for your insight. I could obviously see that the buffers were overflowing in TsReader, but I didn't put 2 and 2 together. So is it "common" for codecs to spit the dummy like this and stop requesting data? If a codec doesn't like a stream change on the fly what else could it do?

    rocklander: I'm glad I said something and encouraged you to post logs! ;)

    awesome help there Tony and mm... you just saved me a not insignificant expense... working perfectly now thanks
    :D

    so is this something that should be included in builds, or have I managed to stumble upon a specific set of circumstances that aren't worth including longer term cos it's so unusual?

    and you're right mm.. I got my grump on and jumped aboard the assumption wagon.. thanks for giving me that nudge;)

    It's a known issue that happens with some video decode filters (i.e. they can't handle on-the-fly frame size changes).

    We developed a fix for it a little while ago, but it was too late to include it in MP 1.2.0 - it will go into MP 'trunk' code base at some point.

    Tony could this happen when changing between SD MPEG 2 streams? Say between 720x576 to a 704x576 stream?

    Reason I asked is one of the HTPC clients I've got occasionally will hang trying to change channel. Pressing stop then choosing the channel again it starts normally.

    Will try and reproduce it this week and post some clean logs for you.

    Cool I'll give your patch a go and let you know if it fixes.

    :confused: .. this has started happening again all of a sudden. quite frustrating... first noticed about two days ago. it's the same system and the only 'changes' are windows updates.

    in an effort to remedy, I've upgraded to MP 1.2.2.0 and also applied the latest TsReader_noStopMod29 patch, but mp still hangs going between say tv2 (HD) and Utv (SD)... logs required?

    Logs would always be good! =)
    Which video codec are you using? I heard about problems with FFDShow DXVA Decoder?
