MP plugin for Video Transcoding (2 Viewers)

Unfortunately Comskip does not support scanning dvr-ms files in real time (live_tv).
Real time scanning will only work for mpeg files.
But you can run Comskip after recording ends or maually for your old recordings.
Once Comskip has scanned your file it will create a TXT.file with the skip parameters.
When watching this Video just open Context menu (F9) and you can skip the commercial, like jumping DVD-Chapters.
Right now, we need to test some things, but there will be public post soon.

1. would it be possible to write an 'in progress' file on shut down that the transcoder plugin could reed on reboot and restart encoding??

2. will it be possible to transcode from commercial dvds with this software as the dvd option suggests so

3. will there be a 'Transcode' option in the context menu added to the screens in mp?
for example i'm browsing my movie collection and find a large one and press 'i' on the mce remote then i am presented with the imdb, delete, stack, and a transcode option.

4. will it be possible to tie the myburner into your project for a nice all in one suite?

5. also please see my other post to see if you could tie your plugin in the idea

The transcoder is a really great plugin and i for one am very pleased and thankful that you have taken all the time and effort to develop such a great piece of software.

just a few things:

I think it is possible , if i save the current timeframe before to stop and ask to ffmpeg to restart the encoding from the timeframe saved (that is works). But after it is necessary to append the data in previous output file, currently i need to test if ffmpeg (or mencoder) add automatically data in the end of the previous file or it is necessary to make a join of two (or more) files (may be use virtualdub).

I working to add this feature in the version 0.9

Normally i have first version of this feature (plan in version 0.8), but i don't provide system to bypass the protection, i use mencoder (see the documentation) and works for some dvd (now i cannot guarantee it works for the dvd protected

I cannot change that because it is necessary to update theses skins to call the transcoder plugin, currently my api is open and i think easier to add a job in transcoder queue.

So it is MP dev which decide.

Why not, but how to see this integration, when the transcoding is finished , i call myburner plugin to write the disk ?

I think post the version 0.8 this week (i finished the last test), in this version.

- add the scheduler, to allow to post transcoding job scheduled the nigth by example and also the scheduler detect automatically new tv recorded in database and schedule the transcoding the night.
- fix audio bit rate 160k/s (thanks maemo)
- add dvd source (first version, because the subject is vast)
- May be an alternative to convert the dvr-ms to mpeg2 (before the transcoding ) with using ffdshow instead cyberlink PowerDVD( use by MP original code)

Hi Fabrice,

Why not using MP's internal dvr-ms to mpeg conversion method?
It's even used by VideoEditor.

Because i think no all people have PowerDVD 6, and to have the choice between one open source and one commercial is the best way .

Hi Fabrice, first of all thanks for this great plugin!!!!

Yesterday night I've tryed it (0.7c), but I had some problems with powerscheduler....

I tried to transcode a dvr-ms using default params except:
2 pass
convert from dvr -> mpg selected
6 hours timeout!

This mornig the pc was still wake in home page and the media transcoding was stopped at about 50% without any hd activity....
I didn't have the time to check the transcoded file....

would it be possible to add a transcode button to the 'my video-editor'?

this way when a video is cut the user would have the option of transcoding from the same gui screen.

also it would be great if the user could setup a choice of profiles, for example,

1.high quality movies
2.medium quality recorded tv
3.ipod video

Thanks again for all your hard work, this plugin makes a massive difference to MP.

NEW VERSION

I post a first pre-release 0.8, to fix the bug with powerscheduler wakeup time (thanks to pierremenard).
Theses new features are not finished (scheduler, etc...) but can work.
