I can assist, but the logo page is totally troublesome. It says the connection is not save, so with every navigation I'm logged out again. Additionally I can only approve and decline, but not edit etc. I'd prefer, if somebody else takes care of the logos or we find another way, e.g. using a shared database of logos.
Understood. Using a shared database does sound like a better idea going forward. In the meantime, I am happy to help out with the logos if I can.

is there anybody out there?

I have, on multiple occasions, uploaded updated logos and channel name changes to the central logo database, but nothing has changed, nor do I see my suggestions in list of open suggestions.

I'm starting to think the MediaPortal project is dead and I need to go look for an alternative.

This is a bit of a naive response, from someone not completely acquainted with all the issues, but my impression is that the MP2 logo system is better set up for European contexts than American ones. I changed my "Channel logo style" in TV settings to "Flat-local" and keep my own small database of logos (which I just collect from the web, many from Logopedia). This has the visual advantage of allowing for logos of local stations, rather than the generic network ones. It takes some work to set up, but then once you're done, you're done (until a channel changes, anyway). But I watch from an over-the-air source, so under 70 stations (in New York City); may not be practical if you have hundreds of channels from cable or something.

that is exactly what I am looking for: I am watching a very limited set of channels and I have the correct logos in the folder C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\Logos\Tv-Flat-Default (and the same logos in the other 2 folders) but I do not have the option Flat-local in TV settings under Channel logo style, only Flat-default, Modern-StreamedMP 16x9-max and Original-3x1.

can I just create a folder Flat-local and put them in there, or do I have to configure something else?

Edit: (based on an old wiki article I found: Channel Logos)

so I copied the file Flat-default.logotheme in C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\Plugins\SlimTv.Resources\Designs to Flat-local.logotheme. I then edited the copy, making sure DesignName is still "Flat" and the ThemeName is changed to "local"

I then went to C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\Logos and created a folder named Tv-Flat-local (I figured MP2 'calculates' the name of the folder by adding "Tv", the DesignName and the ThemeName, separated by "-")

I restarted both the server and the client, and I managed to get the option Flat-local in the MP2 client, but it is still using the old logos :(

Just to confirm, then, you don't have the option selected in the below screen shot? If not, are you using latest version of MP2?

I now got the option in the client, but it is still using the old logos (see the edit of my previous reply)

I guess I need to remove and/or add something in the Flat-local.logotheme file so the client knows it doesn't need to try to download the logos

are you using latest version of MP2?

to make sure that wasn't the issue, I just installed 2.5 (was 2.4.1)

you said "It takes some work to set up, but then once you're done, you're done"
would you mind sharing what you did exactly?

In the path that shows in the first screen shot below, you should see a local folder for logos (you might have to turn on "Show hidden items" in Windows Explorer; I'm not sure). Populate that folder with your logos (in .png format), and as long as they are named exactly as the channels are named (MP2 TV Configuration, under "TV Channels"), MP should pull them when you load the program to watch. See my folder in second screen shot (I've got some junk extras in there, but you get the idea). With that folder empty, perhaps the program pulls from elsewhere by default. Whereabouts are you?

I got it working. turns out MP2 is always looking online for an exact match of the channel name, and it will only look at the local folder if it can't find it online. so I just renamed the channels in the TV Channels part of the TV server, and renamed the logos accordingly.

I am now verifying whether renaming the channels did not mess up the tv guide one of my python scripts generates (had to write a whole suite of scripts after microsoft decided they no longer wanted to supply epg data for Media Center, then had to switch to MP when my cable company decided to replace the analog signal by a DVB-C signal, which isn't supported by Media Center)

anyway, thanks for putting me on the right track. I guess this project isn't dead after all ;)
