MP2 TV Server with Database from MP1 TV (1 Viewer)

Hi,

can i use my MP1 TV MySQL Datebase for MP2 TVE3 Server? And if this is possible how to archieve this?

In theory you can use other databases as well. The gentle.config is stored at C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\SlimTVCore\v3.0\Gentle.config. You can change the connect string to MP1 MySQL db and give it a try.

btw:
it is working fine (except some tv-server plugins).
With the mysql backend it is possible to use MP1 and MP2's TV features in parallel.

but the tv cards are locked if you're running both in parallel. I'm thinking about a smooth migration from MP1 to MP2. Or can i run the MP1 clients against an MP2 tv server?

of course you need more than one tuner or you have to stay on the same transponder with the clients.

I'm using this because I try MP2 from time to time but don't want switch over to MP2 at all.

There is a TV client for MP2 that will allow the MP1 TV to run.
Using the Stock installed TV client, you will need to Stop the TV Service under task manager before Starting MP2.
With that, MP2 will work for TV

You can watch different channels of the same transponder with one tuner. That is a Feature of the TV-Engne.

How to use MP1 and MP2 in parallel is described in the other thread.
In short:

• First you need to have a fully configured TV-Engine ready to run with MP1.
• Than install the MP2 Server on the same Computer
• Do the gentle.config modifications as described in the other thread
  Now the MP2 Server uses the configured MySQL DB of the legacy TVService
• disable the legacy TVService

Now you are ready to use a mixed Environment of MP1 and MP2 Clients.

I am so confused by MP2. I just installed it next to my MP1 and when I open the MP2 -TV config, I get a gentle.config error(twice). Then it wants me to choose the database.
I choose SQLite and it wants schema, username, password("MediaPortal"). I don't want to 'break' my MP1 install. I plan to uninstall MP1 if MP2 works for me.

any help or link to thread is appreciated.
