Would this thing work with VGA-equipped PDAs? What is recommended memory?

Would it be a good idea to start a new thread as this one is really long, and the forum search function never tells what page in a thread contains the search words :-(

    regards
    Knut

knutinh - Are you selecting the radio button Topics? (at the bottom - "Display results as")

I never tried this (I can't ...) but as it is using compact framework 2.0 now, I think it should..

You will have to modify the skinfile, and background graphics though...
also, the buttons will only take up the upper left portion of the screen, so some fiddling with element coordinates might be in order.

    Wow, activity galore.

Ok, MrSensitive, I'll PM you my database separately. I did not check "Load ID3 from file if not in databsae", and am usung WMP with visualizations enabled.

On the update database tab I checked all three boxes, Use Coverart, Treat tracks in individual forders as albums, and Scan albums for various artists. These last two are new and might cause some of the problems.

I initially tried without creating a song index based on album art and it locked, did not repeat this, that problem might go away like it did for the other guy. This database is indexed and it is fast, but I get errors when selecting Unknown under artists, I get the initial glitch if the first thing I open is albums or genres, and no data being sent to Now Playing.

Once we get all the bugs sorted out, you should update the install corrections, net 2.0 for ppc (that link helped) placement of the DLL (again, I assume just put the dll file in mediaportal and plugin\process) and if indexing database is necessary for large files. Hopefully the svc is reflective or what the official release will be and you don't have to hassle with that.

Congrats on the mention, you deserve a lot of credit for the plugin. I hope some of the other devs are able to give you a hand with the other modules (weather, tv, etc) so they can get active as well.

mrsensitive - i had a quick look at the code for mpblue (i'm not much of a programmer :p) and it kinda looks to me like it's hardcoded to use an ip address 224.0.0.4 and port 11000. could this be why now playing isn't receiving any information?

still, three lines of text :) good enough for me... (a screenshot would have been nice though  )

too bad they printed a link to a old version (0.0.1)
is that download site still managed anyway?

the adress and port you see there is part of a UDP multicast setup.
since nowplaying stopped working on my machine too, I doubt this has anything to do with it..

I'm thinking of abandoning the UDP system, and going with regular TCP stuff, it just requires a lot more programming to handle disconnects, and reconnects etc..

Hey, new to MP, which sucks because the day i dled it was the day you posted up the new MPblue, one of the things that i actually require in a HTPC, and then said not to dl it. Hehe, i've just got good timing like that.

I hav e afew question as i've never tried the software myself for the afroementioned reason

Compact Frame 2.0 SP1 is out now, would that have any effect on this?

Have you developed past the music capabilites to other parts of MP, such as pictures and whatnot?

All other questions i'll save until i can install it on my Axim X50.

I know this is not the time, but i do have a features request or help question...

I am installing MP on two computers- my multimedia desktop at home and my R51 laptop, which is my car PC. I neeed to be able to control both of them (not neccessaryily at the same time, which would be nice, but confusing). Woul all i have to do is swith the port settings as i would IP addresses?

Akso, congrats on your break into the entertianment world. Now that you seem to have gone national in Austrailia, how will that affect the production of future versions of Media Portal Blue?

Anyways, that's a lot for taking the time to develope this program.!

I can answer some of those questions, let MrS. focus on the Now Playing issue.

The music capabilities have not been extended to other modules yet, (at least not on the version I downloaded) but from past conversations that was the plan. Another developer was working on the tv portion, so that would probably be the next one. As you can see from the screenshots, there are a few modules anticipated that are already listed, just not active yet. The ambitious plans are to be able to have this control girder and pretty much anything on the htpc, however a few more developers would help (note, I am not a developer, just a really big fan trying to help)

You can use this for more than one server, on the ppc go into settings and switch the names or ips of the servers you are using. I set up my htpc's with simple names so it is quick. A dropdown list would be nice, but definitely later down the road, too much good stuff to be done first. Make sure you load the server (mpblue.dll) both in the mediaportal directory and the plugin\process directory on each machine.

Not sure about sp1, I downloaded the ppc net2.0 that was linked a few pages back and haven't upgraded net 2.0 to sp1 yet (at least I don't think I did)
