it's built and tested using the components of version 0.2.0.4...
I haven't tested it using other versions...

I'm using the client on PocketPc 2003, but other people are using it on WM5... i think..

IS there a new build out? The one I have was released with 0.2.0.0 (final). Is there a major change to 0.2.0.4, or am I fine with 0.2.0.0?

no, 0.0.5 is the latest version..

is coverart working with MP 0.2 final? It is only supposed to be working with 0.2.0.4, at least, that is what it like in my environment???

You posted 0.0.5 with 0.2 final, that's when I installed, what I have, cover art works (unless I am confused about numbers) either way, I have not installed an update since MP 0.2.0.0 (final) and coverart works

    Hi,

Im considering buying a PDA just for the purpose of controlling MP, but before i throw a lot of money that way i wanted to test it in the emulator that M$ provides.

I managed to get .NET CF 2.0 installed and i can start MPBlue. I started by hitting settings and gave it the LAN IP of my HTPC. Nothing happens if i press My TV, My Videos or My Weather. The only buttons that do anything apart from the quit button and Settings is My Music. When i click my music i get the tree view, and the four color 'working' indicator pops up in the middle of the screen(see screenshot). It just stays this way, ive checked in Task Manager and it seems to initiate no network communication.
The emulator is set up to access the network which i checked by visiting an internet website.

If i try to use the controls i get the error shown in pda-crash.gif(clicking details shows the pda-crash-details screens).

Im using the SVN from today which could be cause of the problem, but as mentioned, no network communication *seems* to take place at all.

are you sure that the emulator has a correct network connection?

I'm not familiar with this emulator, the one I'm using is embedded in Visual Studio, and implements network connectivity via ActiveSync..

indeed, the error seems to indicate that the client can't find the server.
is the server DLL copied to the right locations (ie; in the root of mediaportal AND in the plugin/process folder?)
did you check the settings of the server? the port that is set in there should be the same as the one in the client settings..

    I hope this helps..

Im an idiot, i had only copied the plugin to the plugin/process folder :)

Now i do get a list of Albums/artists etc, but i cant play anything from this :(

Nothing happens if i select something and then click play. However if i play something from MP then i can stop and restart it using the buttons below the list. The seperate controls also work fine.

Btw, My Music and Settings are still the only functional buttons in the main menu, are the others supposed to work as well?

you should use right click (ie, tap and hold) on the artist / album or track you want to play. a pop up menu with play and enqueue options should appear.

the play button at the bottom of the screen is jsut used for controlling the player.
it can not submit a song to be played.

Ah, okay :) I never had a real PDA so i have no intuition regarding their user interface ;) Thanks for helping me out even though i ask some pretty stupid questions....

The music playback works now, nice functionality, easily enough to buy a PDA for. Excellent work!

    I do have some questions:
    1. Is My TV and My Videos just there for future extensions or am i doing something wrong?

    2. Is it generally stable, ie what happens if the HTPC goes into standby and is then resumed, will MPBlue have to be restarted?

dont worry about stupid questions or not..
My TV and Videos is not implemented yet, the buttons were added to the skin more as aproof of concept and I never bothered to removce them...

I hope to implement this some day tough..

Stability is OK as long as no network problems occur. if HTPC goes into standby, the client will not detect this and will probably crash when you try to execute a command.
(unless the HTPC has resumed in the mean time..)

    EDIT...
Sorry yes, it will keep working during shut downs and restarts (or stand by resumes) of the HTPC...
