Not sure if this is only me or if otherwise only very few people are really running BETA09 on an operational HTPC, but when I set the "Kill Immediately" option (new to beta09) to true for the shutdown of TV Service on the Standby tab, then the HTPC will not wake up for a scheduled recording

Yes, i am using beta09 with Vista Ultimate and it is definately waking up for me, this is with TVServer\powerscheduler enabled, reinitialise tuners being disabled, so pretty basic settings.

Do you also have the "Kill Immediately" option set to "true" for TVServiceStop on the Suspend tab?
I have tested several times now, but changing that option to "false" makes it wake for scheduled recordings; "true" never wakes up...

Is this "REstart after resume" something you could imagine building into your tool, Josch?

You can do it yourself. Just add a "Stop TVS" and a "Start TVS" in right order into the resume job list.

    General Info:

TVS or MP can be "stopped" in to different ways:
1.) the "soft" way by sending a stop signal to the running process/service
2.) the "hard" way by sending a kill signal to the running process/service -> this is what "Kill Immediately" does.

If you set "Kill Immediately" to false - my app first tries to stop it the soft way (therefore it uses the given timeout) until the timeout is over. If it has no success to stop TVS/MP the "soft" way after the timeout elapsed it tries to kill the process.

If you want to stop for example TVS on Vista during suspend you can also set "Kill Immediately" to false and reduce the timeout to, let say 3 seconds.

Has someone tried the splash screen?
    Does it work for you.
It was a little bit more complicated as in the version 1 of Mpsh.

    Hi,

Great plug-in specially now that RC3 powerscheduler is not working properly.

I could manage to install the latest version after deleting manually all files and folders in the allusers/Program Data/MPstandbyhandler folder from the previous version. I thing the unistall process didn't make a complete clean up and the newest version didn't work properly until I did the clean. Maybe this is something to look at for next versions.

Now suspend/resume from my remote works perfect. It stops TVserver and Mediaportal on suspend, and starts TVserver with the desired delay (I'm a Nova T500 owner) and Mediaportal.

BUT I have a problem with the automatic resume for a scheduled recording. I have a .net unhandled exception in a pop up. After clicking "Continue" button it performs all the resume operations. Obviously I can't do that in a scheduled recording so I miss the record (after 5 minutes the system suspends again due to the powerscheduler configured idle time).

Is not the same resume process if I turn on from the remote or in case there is a scheduled recording?

    How could I fix this?

    Thanx in advance!

    I need the stack trace...
Post me the contents of the exception windows when you open the "details" of the exception.
    What Windows are you using?

i have a nova t500 and up until a few days ago stoping and restarting the service on supsend/resume with beta 08 worked fine but now it doesn't... the tvservice definately starts but mediaportal has says an unknown error occured and the only way to watch tv is by manually restaring the service... a 10 second delay also didn't work.. i would post logs but i dont know where to get them from...

try to set only one hardware device job for testing.
try to restart your hardware BEFORE you start TVS.
try to use a complete different device (for example network card) for testing.

Tried as above except for different hardware device, not really relevant to requirements. Still did not work.
Trial of single hardware device done previously, not shown in log.

Splash screens work for MPstandbyHandlerGui.exe and MPstandbyHandlerUser.exe.

Using RC3 with MediaPortal SVN 10-26-2008 10-40-Rev20602 on Office Computer.

    MPstandbyHandler2.0.0.1.

Sorry, but your logs are ok. There is not trouble with Mpsh, as far as i can see. Are you sure that you didn't change something else?
Did you use the MP/TVS settings from Paranoid Delusion within this thread?

Seems that there are some other problems on your machine. TVS can't be killed ?!?
This an error i never had on my machine. Can you set a delay of 60s before restarting the dvb cards...
    Plz, test it...

I did not test Mpsh2 on XP. I will try to do so during the weekend. Maybe there is problem with XP cause i didn't experience any problems like yours on Vista.
