For some reason, XP is shutting down to standby when MP isn't even loaded.

I have MPStandbyHandler and PowerScheduler setup as in page 14 (I'm using a WinNova T 500).

Is there anyway to prevent this - only want the system to shutdown when MP is loaded but not being used.

XP power settings are all turned off.

Edit: Same issue still exists although its working fine when MP is running. Also, a couple of other questions:

- to stop it going to sleep when I'm using it on the network (WLAN), what sort of figure should I be looking at in the Powerscheduler network settings?
- is there any way of restarting the PC when in S3 state from a network PC? Have ticked the box on network card to say allow it to boot up PC from sleep but although it puts the PC to sleep it just restarts straight away.

Any thoughts?

    Hello there,

Thanks for this fine piece of software. Now standby works for me! Is it possible to add a section for hardware selection that is able to get the HTPC out of standby, e.g. keyboard mouse and stuff, so I don't have to use MST to disable all hardware?

After standby my P5B motherboard produces an electrical pulse which causes Windows to shut down the USB device (hard disc). I have to reset it manually and then it works again. I found out that it is possible to get hardware restarted after standby such as USB devices. But I dont get it to work... I still lose my Z-drive which is the USB drive.

Can someone help me on this one?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Woggle,

If you have a single-seat installation (ie. TV-Server and MediaPortal client on the same machine), AND you have configured PowerScheduler within the TV-Server, then the PC will go into standby even if the MediaPortal client isn't running - because TV-Server will try and put the PC into standby when it thinks there's no activity.

In the TV-Server PowerScheduler configuration, you can specify certain processes that (if they are running) will stop the PC going into standby. For example, in my case I have PowerDVD specified as a process that stops TV-Server from putting the PC into standby. So, when I want to close the MediaPortal client for any reason (eg. maintenance) I just have PowerDVD running so that the machine doesn't shut down.

    Cheers,
    Craig

Thanks that's helpful. I'll try that!

Any idea about what network figure I should put in the network settings box and/or how to wake on lan from sleep?

    Thanks

Hey guys. I have tried everything to get MP to go into hibernate on its own. I tried using MST and also MP standby handler, but it still wont work. I can manually make it go into standby and it comes back on, on its own to record fine, but it wont go back into hibernation. I have my logs here and when it goes into an idle state it keeps stating that there is user input dected but I am not touching anything. I have a hauppauge remote, logitech wireless controllers, and a usb mouse/keyboard combo, and a D-link wireless card. If anyone knows if any of these things are giving me the problem, I would love to know a work around for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    OnResume called but not suspended

    Hello Craigparris1,
did you get anywhere with MPstandbyhandler, I have the same problem.

    Hi there,

I've been trying to get a working S3 standby/resume solution working with 1.0 Final, but am having some problems. I thought I'd try the MPStandbyHandler and see if that would solve the problem - however, the program doesn't seem to be processing the events that it should when resuming. When I test the suspend/resume steps via the GUI, they process OK.

The log entries look like this:

    INFO System PowerEvent: ResumeAutomatic
WARNING OnResume - OnResume called but not suspended
    INFO System PowerEvent: ResumeSuspend
WARNING OnResume - OnResume called but not suspended

What's likely to be the problem here?

    Cheers,
    Craig

    Hey josh.hh,

nice peace of solid German workmanship! I just updated from version 1.0 to 2.0.0.7 since the old one seemed have problems killing the TV-Service or starting it after resume. In consequence my PC startet and went to sleep again but nothing was recorded. Now this is the second time in a row that recording works fine after the resume from hibernate.

I also have to say that I use this tool in combination with Power Scheduler. This combination ist advantageous in comparison to MP's board tools because you do not have to let the system go to sleep itself. You can switch it the way you want. Furthermore the intelligent standby and resume tools are very nice. My HTPC works now as I expected it.

So my friend - keep on doing this great job! :D

P.S. Would be nice if MPStandbyHandler will be implement as a standard plugin in MP! This would help many users as most TV-Cards and other hardware components have bad drivers which have to be reinitialized after resume. In my opinion this is the reason why the board tools of MP work for some users but not for all of us!
