what does MPstandbyHandlerUser.exe do? is it needed to be running, or do i just need to run the service?

    I also found a bug,
when you uninstall, MPstandbyHandlerUser.exe is not removed from msconfig -> startup

When using this on an Athlon X2 5050e+ machine with 2 gigabytes of ram and a GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM type motherboard on which Mediaportal 1.1.0.0 is installed with the TV-client and pulling down TV from another mediacenter which functions as a server for it, I get a green screen when trying to start TV after resume. There is audio/sound but no picture (a green screen) and the processor is working very hard as if it's stuck in a loop.

MPStandbyHandler does restart TV-Service and Mediaportal on resume.

I can't tell anything about the behaviour of MPSH running on a 64bit windows. Are you sure that the MPSH Server process consumes the CPU power?

This exe is only needed if you want to start/stop MP, otherwise you can just forget it.

Uninstall has no bug. It is only used to unregister the MPSH server process as windows service.

It is indeed the MediaPortal process that consumes the CPU power. It's not nessesarily an MPStandbyHandler problem though. I've noticed that my MP uses the wrong codec for MPEG2, so it could be the codecs fault.

Another issue that is MPStandbyHandler related: Sometimes MP does not start up again on resume. Going into standby again and back fixes it.

Here is a minor piece of the log. I tried suspending, resuming, suspending, resuming and so on. At least two times MP was still open on resume. The last time MP was gone on resume and didnt come back. I suspect that suspend jobs doesnt get called before the PC sleeps..

I would prefer a clean log from the service and user part of MPSH. Please stop the service and the user exe, remove logs, start again and do one suspend and one resume.

It can hapen, that the suspend job wasn't finished when the system enters standby mode.
This is the case since Vista. MS changed the behaviour of the Power-Event for suspend. With Win XP it was possible to delay the suspend until everything was finished - but not with Vista or higher. Means, if you have lot to do on the syspend jobs (or a fast machine) then suspend will not be ready when the machine actually suspends.
I am currently not sure how to fix this.
    Any ideas are welcome.

    Hi Josch,

    I have two ideas:

1 - Is it possible to cancel the suspend when MPSH is notified? If it is possible, you can cancel the suspend do the suspend actions and call suspend again.

2 - Maybe you can intercept suspend and ´transform´ in Win 7 away mode? Somethind like GMPS (Home) do?

    kind regards
