    Hi,

    I'm not sure if this nice tool is the right/better one for my Problem: Sometimes if do the PC to hibernate, MP crashes, sometimes not. Most of the time if it's doesn't crash, the TV Service works fine.

    So I need a tool that (re-) starts after resume MP only if has crashed (mediportal.exe isn't runnig).

    Can do this your tool?

    Thanks!

    Greetings

    OK, i forgot to tell that UAC on Vista has to be disabled, if you want to stop/start TVS. -> A service restart in normal case needs admin rights.

    I just tested again the standby with Vista and TVS / MP running... TVS and MP are correctly stopped on my maschine before entering standby mode.
    Dont forget that the standby S3 is only reached if the power led of your maschine is flashing. Vista takes some time longer to reach this state but the screen is turned off immediatly when you press the standby button.

    Not at the moment, could be implemented. But this feature is also covered be MP itself. See MP-Config/General/Watchdog -> automatically restart MP.

    Can you tell me your Hardware/Software configuration, plz?

    is it possible to make the program detect when the tunner has the cards blocked by error and restart tvservice? sometimes i get no free card available and if i go out of mp and restart the service it works. would be nice if it could do it automatically.

    Checkout my settings in earlier post, also disable reinitialiase tuners in powerscheduler, its totally unnecessary and may actually screw things up.

    Have not had a failure yet, and no reboots.

    Also have the TVService recover settings in control panel\admin\services set to restart TVService in case of failure after 1 minute, but that has never been activated to my knowledge.

    Well, I think it's not quiete the thing I'm looking for: If push the "PowerOff" of my Remote (after stopping TV) the system should go to hibernate. If MP crashes I still want to hibernate the system (without MP) and do a restart after resume.

    At the moment "Hibernate Trigger" does this, with a batch file.

    Can you tell me your Hardware/Software configuration, plz?

    I have my system configuration at my Profile, anything further / more details of what?

    Yes, and before your maschine enters sleep mode it does this:

    04.09.2008 22:54:38 :: Info :: OnSuspend
    04.09.2008 22:54:38 :: Info :: Process Stop - Trying to STOP MediaPortal (10000ms) (id:2644)
    04.09.2008 22:55:18 :: Error :: Process Stop - Unable to terminate MediaPortal (id:2644)
    04.09.2008 22:55:18 :: Info :: Process Stop - Trying to KILL MediaPortal (10000ms) (id:2644)
    04.09.2008 22:55:18 :: Info :: Process Stop - Successfully terminated MediaPortal (id:2644)
    04.09.2008 22:55:18 :: Info :: OnSuspend - Done

    So the stopping of MP is done before sleep - I think as it should be

    General Explanation:

    The Meaning of the timeout settings within MPstandbyHandler in the config section

    "seconds to wait for TVService/Mediportal to be stopped"

    is that the application will wait MAX the given time for MP/TVS to be stopped. i.e. if MP/TVS stops immediatly (maybe within the first second) before the given timeout is reached then everything is fine and the routine will return with a success message in the log. If after the given time MP/TVS can't be stopped then the routine will return with an error message and no success.

    You will not realize the waiting time for the suspend sequence on your monitor/tv if you run vista on your maschine, because vista blanks/turns off the screen immediatly but the system is still working to prepare the standby. STANDBY is only reached, if the power led is flashing (on most pc cases, OrigenAE htpc cases will switch the power led color from blue(ON) to red(Standby).
