Yes makes sense But that's what Yatse is aimed to.
I do use and make Yatse for my HTPC with an integrated 7'' Touch LCD. So i can launch music without switching TV on And when TV is on to have Yatse show what's currently playing with detailed informations.

Yatse do have a copy of you media dabatase so you can browse and launch media when the main screen is off . Since it's multi media center for the moment i've only implemented Movies / Tv Shows and Music. EPG should come when XBMC support it. Never thought about radio since XBMC does not support them.

It also support currently playing to show detailed informations / covers / fanart during playback of medias.

And implement a remote control to move in the menu with shortcut to some important functions.

I think this correspond to the standard needs for a local touch screen as well as a remote touch one since Yatse can work on tablet and target multiple media centers with quick switch between them.

But as i said MPtouch will always support much more things from MP than Yatse

Hi, its exactly why I cant' use Yatse : I use folder navigation, my audio/video database is empty Too many tools are based on the database but not all of us take time to tag all mp3 and catalog all movies. (It's also why I use my own code patch to retrieve datas in a .nfo when I display a movie).

Well I may have underestimated your plugin. If radio control and epg for live tv could be implemented, then it would seem that it would go a long way to suit at least my needs. However as far as I know iPimp does not have an api for radio, so that still leaves us where sa_ddam213 said, i.e. In the need for a custom api...

technick there was some users request for that, but Yatse without covers and Fanart is really less beautifull so i wonder if it's really an important feature as catalog data little by little is not really hard, plenty of tools to help

mtjoernelund : epg and radio are not planned soon About ipimp as i said you can add new function easily in it or ask cheezey to do, he accepted all my patch to add things for Yatse, or support FanartHandler ..... I'm pretty sure that an alliance between cheezey and sa_ddam213 to add the missing things may provide quickly a way for MPTouch to work over network and be the best touch remote for MP.

Hey all,

Reading the last few posts make it clear that MPTouch should continue as an internal MP plugin.
I also have the same setup as technick (No databases) and the Yatse2 is a real pain to install if you don't have the TV series, Moving pictures and fanart handler installed. (I like my video all in one place)

Tolriq maybe cheesy could add support in the yatse api for current play/selected thumb thumbnail file string for non database users.

Even if I made an API for MPTouch it would lose functionality. The main problem will be that MP's GUI will not follow what you are doing on MPTouch, Example: if you are making a playlist with MPTouch and turn on your TV whatever you were doing on MPTouch is on the MP GUI.

So It will be staying as an internal MP Plugin. If you need over network support Yatse will be a better option.

Must admit that I do not think that moving pictures and tvseries are the most relevant plugins, as they are both used with main screen on and as such we do not have much of a control problem. To me the most important things is the ability to control the things that you would control with the main screen off, and then secondly a nice status display for when the main screen is on. And finally that support for new plugins are fairly easy to implement, i.e. when a well working Grooveshark plugin is evolved.

The acid test must be for me to get my wife to use the touchscreen instead of turning on the tv and using the remote when she wants to put on some music.

I do now have also a LCD- Touch Display and using your Plugin the First Time. It's an absolute Great Plugin!!!
I'm really curious for the next releases. Cool Job you're making here!
I've testet Yatse too and it's, as you say, awfull to install and handle this software.

Can you please explain a little more ? I do know and understand that Yatse does not correspond to some needs like users without database.

But installing is 2 clicks and using is just as simple a clicking buttons so hard to understand how to get better with such comments

Of course I can.

It's more the point of installing this software. It took me about 1 hour to get all work properly. The information on this website how to install the software with MP is actually not complete. So it took me about 30 Minutes to understand that I have to install more than the software mentioned in this Link.
The Handling much needs getting used to. So - i prefer the MPTouch Plugin much more. It took me just 2 Minutes and everything went fine. All Informations i want to see are on the Display. It's nothing against you and it's just my opinion. Sorry if you fellt assaulted.

But one thing I have for you sa_ddam. On my working computer where i tested the whole thing, everything is great and works fine. On my HTPC MP crashes when I use Moving Pictures or TVSeries. The Film starts, but than the pc is not responding on any input via keyboard or IR. The only thing I can do, is to kill the task via Taskmanager. I don't know if it appears with TV too, i will test it tomorrow and attach some logs. Now it's to late for that.

Edit: Uhh - I've seen now that you had an earthquake in your country some time ago. Hope everything is all right? And as I see you are making the plugin completely new? So, I think, you don't need the log's, do you?

Edit2: Whether or not, here it is... And the Screen I allways see on the Display. If it's a video File oder TV. It doesn't matter what i start.

EDIT 3:
Yesterday my HTPC causes some errors, so I had to make an old image to the HDD. Just for Fun i tested the MPTouch- Plugin and now it works... The Display is working correctly but i still haven't installed the driver for Touch functionality - will do this later today. The other thing i haven't done till now, is to disable the Minidisplay Plugin for my IMon.
