Corruption of music DB - Music not Importing
Same happened to me.
Same solution deleting the database (unfortunately). I also had problems accessing playlist in MP (list of songs in cue).
Error message appeared (Missing file like when the skin doesn't have the proper file for a plugin ).
All problems disappeared when deleting music database and new scan completed. Really strange. Lots of errors in MP error log file relating to music database.
Collected files using "Mediaportal Debug Mode" 3 days ago. Sorry but now with problem solved doesn't shows the error in MP

When I import new films using Moving Pictures, it takes an incredibly long time for the information to be found and downloaded...
Fixed, I think.
Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this.

I've recently retired my MP2 setup for my main HTPC and gone back to separates, but I wanted to retain the ability to play...
I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ?
MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo.
