OK, i've tested and tested and i can't seem to reproduce the issue:

Well, with those settings, it works here too, so thanks for that! (I had the cross-fading at 4 seconds, and buffering at 2).
Still curious though, are my symptoms to be expected if cross-fading is at 4 and buffering at 2?
And is this something that changed recently?

Yeps, because i forget to disable those settings @ first (also use cross-fading @ 4) and thought i reproduced it ;)
buffer doesn't matter, and 2 is on a real high side. with my FLAC on remote server, i use a buffer of 0.1
If i set it to 0.5 the playback speed is already slowed down to almost 0. ;(

And is this something that changed recently?
Nah, that's already a few releases back, maybe even 1.3 (but not sure)

So, going for round 2! :)

I have configured my screen to turn off after a certain time in windows power setting, and when that happens during music playback, mp stops playback and hangs itself.

This was definitely not the case in 1.7.1...

Logs attached, (In which case I set the turnoff time of screen to 1 minute).

Edit: note that "AMD High Definition Audio Device" is *not* the audio device that's doing the playback, it's just the regular speakers I use

Edit2: Completely disabling the "AMD High Definition Audio Device" in windows is the correct answer, so sorry guys, no points here :)
