I like this design but maybe we could add a backdrop or cover preview for the selected movie. Here's a quick mockup:

The background image is from the currently selected one (Avatar), is that not enough?

Agreed, but IMHO it should be enabled by default, or there will be lots of questions on how to turn all of them on.

But what happens if the recently added movie doesn't have a backdrop? I myself would prefer something solid colored rather than a generic photo or a randomly selected movie backdrop. I really like this in Maya, where no backdrop is available it defaults to the nice Maya background. This of course could be available from the Skin settings.

I agree with Jeditraf, these options should really be optional! I like the clean and minimalized look of the original mock-ups better myself.
I guess some of the information on the Homescreen doesn't need to stand out as much as shown in the latest mock-ups. Maybe it can be shown a bit more subtle with less contrast and less centralized positions.

Some progress report (real working) screenshots... home screen just thrown together so I can navagate around while working on this
Screens are 1280x720 because dev/skin work is being done on my laptop. Fine tuning will be done at 1920x1080 on my htpc.

Amazing. I really love the small icons at the top of the hidden menus. Does Moving Pictures get a "Movies" and the built in My Videos get a "Videos"?

IMHO, this view would look even better with the show title beneath the currently selected item. Did the original Mustalayca have a Posters view? If not, then perhaps make the selected item label can be moved for all Posters and Cover Flow views without "breaking the rules" of this skin?
