Alright, what I've done is just have it ignore any files that give it problems and then show the list after the scan. That way we can track down what exactly it is that's causing the problem and get it fixed.

I was at work at the time, but had this half finished. This should scan a bit better for you and give us a list in your Configuration.log of any videos that gave it problems. If you could, I'd like to see that list. Let me know how it works for you. I did this quickly and was in the middle of changing some things so I haven't had a chance to test out those changes.

These problems were expected, but they can and will be fixed. It's very hard for me to know what kind of file/folder structure everyone has and deal with foreign language characters, etc. So, I really appreciate your help and patience on this.

My Folder structure has no real structure to it, when a folder starts to take too long to open I start another folder so it ends up looking like
Music Videos
New Music Videos
Our Music Videos
Music

I was going to sort them into alphabetical folders but just haven't got around to it.

I am still using MP rc1 and the plugin won't load in MP with Blue2 (I use Blue2wide usually), it just locks up.

Most likely a stupid question as I tried the plugin last night and got a frozen screen also when going into the plugin and had to kill the MP task. I'm using 0.2.3.0 stable and I assume this plugin is designed for RC2? If so, looks as though I have finally found reason enough to upgrade MP versions. Haven't done it so far as I have 0.2.3.0 all set-up nice

That's pretty much how mine are. Everything is dumped into one folder except for a few that are in their own folders. I believe Darre has a similiar setup using Genre folders. Basically, though, the plugin doesn't (or shouldn't) care what the folder structure looks like at this point in time as it's just going to grab every file in every folder. How are things working for you? Is everything working now? I know you had a duplicate issue before, just wondering if that was an accidental double click of the refresh button.

I'm not really sure about 0.2.3. I've never tried it on that version, but I'd be interested to see your logs to see what the error is. If it's nothing major, I can compile a build for you based on the 0.2.3 core.

No worries, I'll give it another go tonight. Though I'm happy enough to move up to RC2 as well if need be.

Edit: Have attached logs. Some of the messages relate to a missing tvseries xml. I usually use Xface as the skin, but to get the logs, used Blue Two with the skin file provided with the plugin.

Unscanned folders (both English and Russian) have:

Music Video DB - ExamineDir returned <> 0 files

or

Music Video DB - ExamineDir returned 0 files

although files have extension like *.avi

Yeah, it looks like 0.2.3 is missing the ability to center the text in a textbox. Here's the relevant error:
OnMessage exceptionystem.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Void MediaPortal.GUI.Library.GUITextScrollUpControl.set_TextAlignment(Alignment)'.

We'll, I'm able to see a bit better what's happening now. Try this one and see what happens. It will probably still stop at the Kings of Leon, but it will give us the error. I think there's something weird happening with parsing the next video.

It’s all OK now with scanning non-VIDEO_TS files (both Cyrillic and English names).

But other things went wrong, when browsing Internet sites.

1. Artists: “Da” for “Daft Punk” , “X” for “X-Ecutioners”, “H” for “H-Blockx”, etc.
Songs: “2 dollar bill” for
- “Beastie Boys - 2 dollar bill - 02 - Root Down.mpg”,
- “Beastie Boys - 2 dollar bill - 03 - Right Right Now Now.mpg”,
- “Beastie Boys - 2 dollar bill - 05 - That's It That's All.mpg”, etc.
I understand this is to the question of user’s patterns before scanning.

2. During the scan I have to exchange “complex” artists like “Fermin Muguruza & Afro-Basque Fire Brigade” with only one artist. I changed it to “Fermin Muguruza” and the file “Fermin Muguruza & Afro-Basque Fire Brigade - Sarri SArri (Vina Rock 2007).avi” was understood as Artist: “Fermin Muguruza”
Song: “Basque Fire Brigade”.

3. The plugin couldn’t find any Russian group even using Last.fm.
2ва Самолета wasn’t found there, although they have their own page there:
2?? ???????? ? ?????? ?? Last.fm
I guess something might be wrong with encoding, when it searches the musician, because variants in the window didn’t have anything similar with the name.

4. The plugin can’t search Internet using patterns like “(name), the”. To make it work I had to put down only “(name)”. If there’s more than 1 file, I have to repeat it continuously until the last clip.

5. If anyway the artist is not in the list, I have to press “skip”, loosing the artist. It’s pretty hard to wait until the end of the procedure and to compare the share(s) and the console to find missing files for adding them manually.

6. If I press “skip” (5) or if I change the name manually (4), I get a mess of names for files, which go after the missed or changed file:

Is it possible to change the concept of scanning?
1. Customizing scanning patterns “artist” - ”album” – “song” (several for non-VIDEO_TS files and several for VIDEO_TS files).
2. Scanning folders and file names according to patterns and writing info about artists and songs into DB without connecting to Internet. This way we won’t loose any file.
3. When scanning, looking for “Folder.jpg” as a thumb for an artist and “Folder.jpg” or “(file name).(extension for pictures)” for albums and/or songs. If there’s no picture, mark the artist for looking in the Internet (4) and/or the album/song for drabbing info from the file (4). At this point the procedure is finished and the user may close the console and watch MP.
4. Making it possible to get missing (marked) thumbs:
(a) by pressing in the console “refresh thumbs” and getting them from Internet or from files,
(b) when choosing an artist/album/song (in the background).


PS
1. It would be nice to retrieve artist’s info from last.fm according to language chosen in the console.
2. I didn’t quite get the difference between “genre” and “styles”. What is taken from last.fm?
