    Re: New MP Backdrop

Isit possible to have future backdrops also for the StreamedMP Themes format (see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/streamedmp-301/backgroundimages-3d-90749/#post690643 )?

I'm not quite sure I understand this properly.
Is it just 3D backgrounds from the main menu?
Are you asking for a 3D background for MyAnime?

I was asking for a backdrop for the main menu to keep them consistent to the other main menu items.
There are already 2 posted in the thread by now.

    Cheers

I don't think this is your correct internal IP address. it's probably something like a firewire device.

What you could try is the following:

    1. Press the "windows key + R" on your keyboard.
    2. In the window that opens type: "cmd" en press enter.
    3. A command prompt window should now be running and you should enter: "ipconfig" and press enter.
    4. the output should be something like this:

      Code:
      Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:

         Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : lan
         Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::ec75:22fc:a46b:d907%13
         [b]IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.78[/b]
         Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
         Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254

      Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

         Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
         Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

      Tunnel adapter isatap.lan:

         Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
         Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : lan

      Tunnel adapter isatap.{351EC3B3-4751-4964-B352-A603EEFE9B57}:

         Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
         Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 11:

         Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
         IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2001:0:5ef5:79fd:cff:2b9f:2af5:8772
         Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::cff:2b9f:2af5:8772%15
         Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : ::
    5. What were looking for is the value in the IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : x.x.x.x line. where x.x.x.x is the ip address of your own machine.
    6. Normal addresses for local networks are: 10.x.x.x , 172.16.x.x or 192.168.x.x where x is a number between 0 and 255.
    7. Now open the myAnime plugin configuration and add the Ip address you found at step 5 under "Prefered Local IP Address"
      MyAnime-Main.jpg

after that the plugin should be able to connect again.

    Hi Craige,

    "Otaku Media Manager release"?
Hearing for the first time of it: Is it a working title or are there specific ideas already formulated on the functional scope?

    Cheers,

I would say it is a working title, Craig might disagree :)

Not so much functional scope yet, more like some very high level goals.
The main one being to separate the back end functionality from the user interface
Back End = File hashing, downloading info from AniDB/TvDB, Database functionality, etc.

The main reasons for this separation?
    - Allow the database to be shared between multiple clients e.g. you can use the client plugin on different machines and both machines will know which episodes have been watched etc, hashing of files is only done on one machine
    - Allows creation of different types of clients without needing to re-do all the back-end functionality
    - Definite Clients: Media Portal 2 Plugin, Windows Client
    - Probable: Windows Media Centre
    - Possible: Web Server/Browser Based, Android etc

For most users of MyAnime in MP, they probably don't care about this stuff, but it is important to some of us :)

Other non-related goals (mine, other devs will have their own)
    - Full support for localisation (other langauges)
    - Support for SQL Server, SQLite
    - Persisting of commands to database, so you can resume from where you left off for an import
    - Simplified processing of files and commands (slower but more reliable)
    - Searching on anime titles across languages, synonyms etc
    - More powerful filtering and user defined views
    - Name pattern matching like TV Series

This sounds awesome (both in scope and in vision).

I was just today (looks at watch...well, yesterday...) trying to figure out a way that I could keep the database up-to-date so when I sat down to watch a new download I wouldn't have to kick off an update and watch something already in the database while I wait for the scan to finish. I'm torn between using the drop folder and wanting to keep my mediaportal autologin account "read only" since it's the same account the rest of the family uses to watch Media Center/Netflix/Hulu/etc. I really don't need one of the kids deleting a TB or two of videos by mistake.

Moving to a service model where the service could be hosted centrally on a WHS box or whatever would make my life a lot simpler. I might even auto-rename files for consistency.:D

Adding other client interfaces like Media Center would be cool too. My biggest gripe about MA2 was how hard it was to find in the first place. For such a cool product that fits so well with the content that we're consuming I'm still amazed that there isn't more talk of MA2 in the anidb forums or BT forums. Thinking back to when I first started working with MA2, I spent more time fighting with MediaPortal and getting it all set up than I did with My Anime 2. Not that there's anything wrong with MP... It's just a huge product and more than a little overwhelming if all you're really looking to do initially is just getting anidb content displayed.

I think a lot more people would be using MA2 if that barrier to entry could be lowered and the setup streamlined. That could mean other clients or through MP installation scripting. I'm getting ready to rebuild my HTPC so maybe I'll to go back and look at the docs and see if there's anything more specific I can come up with to ease the entry for "new blood."

As always, can't wait for whatever you guys want to cook up next. Keep up the great work!

Hm - why syncing with ANIDB? I don't know about the structure in the database you are using - but adding a field which is set for watched - unwatched - without syncing or anything else. Just an informational field you may set. So - basically like a View wher you select the user (Main [anidbsync] - User1 - User2 - user3) and the corresponding watched - unwatched status. Where only the main one is synced with ANiDB.

If sync'ing with AniDB is not required then it should be possible to do.
Again it would be too much effort for MyAnime2, so I will look at it for MA3.

Ok I'll take a look, I assume you have manually changed the image for now?

The only current method to fix this is as slamdance has detailed.
In version 2.5, I think we have fixed this so you won't need to enter a preferred IP address

I think the main issue is that for most people MP is just overkill.
If you are watching on a dedicated HTPC connected to a TV, I think it's definitely the best way.
But for most people who are just watching anime on a PC, they would prefer a simpler client. Which is why tools like AOM, and other UDP based AniDB clients are popular.
For most users even that is too much work, and they will just watch straight from their folders.

If you just want the basic AniDB functionality without all the fanart etc, you could also consider those tools. AniSub seems to pretty popular and well maintained at the moment.

Is MyAnime2 going to be compatible with MP 1.2.0? I found out the hard way that it isn't with the latest SVN of 1.2.0. When 1.2.0 beta comes out, I want to upgrade, but only if I can still watch my anime.

Re: My Anime 2 - Windows 7 x64 Install Problem

    Dear Anime2 Dev. Team,

After upgarding to Windows 7 x64 with mynew PC, I ran into trouble installing the Anime2 plugin.
Before installing MP behaved normally, showing all types of (tested) videoformats and containers.

After installing the plugin, for all playbacks in the tested formats screen went black, audio was playing ok.

Also the logfiles showed a significant increase in error reportings. I attached two sets of logs (one with installation after StreamedMP and one with only MP and Anime2 installed).

    System Config:
    Windows 7 x64 SP1
    MP 1.2.0 Alpha
    latest Anime2 plugin 2.4.0.11

Uninstalling the plugin didn't resolve the problem as it still retains the effect. Have to check if a rollback prior to plugin installation would remove the effect (need to re-install MP and set a recovery point)

Help would be very much appreciated as I am currently stuck

    Cheers & Thanks in advance,

Thank you for the logs yhoogi. Unfortunately MediaPortal 1.2 changes things in regards to how plugins talk to it. It can cause problem for plugin that have not yet adapted to it, as you may have noticed. We do plan to add support for 1.2, but will not likely happen until the rc's or actual release, since 1.2 is still in alpha and further changes may yet come.
