Basically what I want is to be able to pick my own background for streamedmp when I go to the anime menu. Then when I enter, I want the fanart backgrounds depending on which series I select. Just like movingpictures and tvseries do that.
However I just can't get it to work. I have no clue at all how to configure this thing as there is zero usefull documentation available. I selected it to automatically use series info when available, download fanart etc. All the boxes are checked under online db. However, no fanart backgrops. It does have that 3d tv thing though. But that file is impossible to find...
As pur_burger said you should select "Anime2_Main.xml"
Once you are within the plugin itself, the basic home editor and fanart handler have no bearing on fanart.
Can you check that you actually have fanart images available.
If you are on Windows7, it will be in the following folder.
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Thumbs\AnimeThumbs\TvDB\fanart
If there is nothing there, you can try doing a "Run Import" to get the images again.
Alternatively you can send me you config file and/or database and I will take a look for any issues.

Could you post a screenshot?

Upon clicking the test loggin button get the following
The 0.0.0.0 address is fine. It just means that it tries to bind to all local addresses.
Sometimes AniDB can be down and not respond.
Is this your first time using the plugin?
You may need to allow the incoming ports through your firewall (4555)
Or you can try changing the local port.
If none of this works you could try using a different UDP client to see if it's a problem with just MA2.
