While you're checking - is there any other data missing on nfo import?
Thanks Guzzi. Nothing extra that I think is required apart from trailer registration, however there are a couple of mods I have made;
  • Since there is nothing asssigned in the grabber to the comments field, I add the "outline" from the nfo file to the description field, and the "plot" from the nfo file to the comments field (but this is personal preference).
  • the genres field now requires a tweak with the latest format of the nfo files for Ember, as they have gone multiline instead of separated by "/" (pm me if anyone wants the tweak).

    Hi @bwg - could you attach a sample NFO file from EMM to the Ember Media Manager/NFO wiki page? I think it would be really helpful, and we can then check that all the fields are correctly documented on that page.

    • Agree - this is "personal settings"

      That should be checked and possibly fixed/adapted imho.
    Actually, I get the impression, that we'll end up providing customized nfo grabber scripts for different cases, like Ember, VDB, MoPi, etc.
    What a mess - I hoped to use nfo as a more universal format not requiring tweaks for each case :sick: .

    Rather than 'tweaking' for each case, would it be possible to create a 'master' nfo grabber that supports all MF fields? The default mapping includes only fields common to all NFO files. Then users can use the Grabber options to map additional fields/data from the source they use to the MF field they wish? More work now, but less work in future maintaining different versions.

    That was the appraoch we did with the included nfo grabber! But as you noticed, details are different, like naming of artwork, separators, etc. - so tweaking IS needed - and unfortunately many users don't want/can handle that.
    But in general, I am 100% with you - we should try to make the "base nfo grabber" as compatible as possible - so it e.g. DOES understand different separators, etc. - so at least differences are minimized ...

    done...

    BTW, I will be continuing to use the Ember nfo management for imports for as long as there is development. As there has not been any recent activity on the EMM purplepig website for 6 months or so, I have been relying on the xbmc forum page and specifically update releases within it from DanCooper (currently 1.3.0.7 fix2). I am happy to provide updates of any changes that become necessary for the grabber script.

    Actually, one other question: is it possible for the grabber to read the hyperlinks for actor images from imdb in the nfo file and download the image files to the My Films PersonImages folder? Even better, EMM can save the actor images in a ".actors" folder within the movie folder, with the filename "Firstname_Lastname.tbn". If these could be grabbed and transferred to the My Films PersonImages folder that would allow scraping with no internet connection.

    ups, I never answered to this one, sorry...
    Currently, the grabber does not read any person info except the names for the respective roles. There is other grabber scripts for person info introduced with 6.0.2 - those should be able to read that data, but I have never tried that yet. This does not fully meet your idea - to let the movie grabber grab all the person info stuff existing within the movie grabbing itself though.
    Actually, I was hoping to get a clearer picture about the direction to go with nfo grabbing stuff, but there wasn't much feedback lately...
