Yeah its case sensitive, I guess a few people might of been caught out by that.

I'll throw removing of case sensitivity onto the to-do list.

how do I watch TV on my macbook from my TV server in the lounge.

I have installed all the files - but do I need to start timeshifting?

Do I need to open port 8080 on my router?

Am I connecting to my internet IP address? 202.47.***.** or my internal one 168.192.1.1?

It will be your internal IP you need to use.

The problem is most likely TvServer is been blocked by a firewall, just to test try disabling your firewall on the computer running the TvServer and see if you can connect.

If that works you just need to make sure your firewall doesn't block the tvserver.exe process and your set :)

firewall - i have nod32 running but not the internal windows one.

Could it be that or maybe the router needs ports unblocked?

Do I open it in firefox?

You should be running it on your LAN (unless you have 100mbit internet connection). You only open ports on a router to allow data through the gateway (which means it would allow internet traffic to use your tvserver).

You don't need to forward ports.

Even Nod32 might block it, try disabling it and see what happens.

Any new browser should show a RSS feed just fine.

If you know your computers name replace the IP with what eg. http://compName:8080/TvServer/ChannelList.rss

Do you really use 168.192.1.1 ? most people use 192.168.x.x or 10.10.x.x, it might be worth checking you got the IP right.

Just to let everyone know I have a 10/10Mbit connection and it shows TV fine over the internet to my work.
The input Bitrate Peaks at about 5000 kb/s (~ 5Mbit) when there alot of movement on the screen so it's not possible with a normal DSL connection but it is doable.

That isn't a HD stream if 5Mbit peak.

I didn't want people to get the wrong idea until transcoding is done otherwise i'm sure more then a few people would ask "why doesn't it work?"

Suggestion

quick suggestion for the next release. could you maybe add a readme file showing the URL's used? I'm not sure if it's just a bad memory (as in mine, not my computer) or what my issue is, but I find I forget the various url's all the time and have to come back to this page to remind myself. Now of course I'll be seeing a reply that states simply save to favorites, but I just did a recovery and so of course Poof!!!! I'm back at this page to remind myself what the darn url is.

On the Tv Server plugin screen I used to have a generated link. After I cleaned up a lot of the code I didn’t require a lot of the configuration items so I cleaned up the form a little bit but in doing so removed the link.

I’ll look into restoring the link information on the tv plugin form and I’ll write up a readme file.

Thanks for the good suggestion.
