When I click on a video to watch, it asks if I would like to resume where I left off and when I click ok, it just starts the movie from the beginning every time. What can I do to fix it?

Thanks!

Does this happen to all your movies, or just some of them? Perhaps the index on the specific movie-file is corrupt.

It happens to all movie files on the hard drive and movies I watch from the original DVD disc.

    Hi

I noticed I'm having a similar problem running MP 1 RC2 and using Myfims plugin (latest SVN). ALL movies play OK but wont resume at all. I dont even get an option to start from a bookmark it just starts playing from the beginning. To add to the problem fast forwarding to the place I left off results in a complete system lockup and reboot.

    Any suggestions would be welcome?

Originally (like GavinC) I didn't get any option to resume, it just restarted the movie. Once I changed video codecs to Cyberlink, I get the option to resume, but it never actually resumes from where it says it's going to.

    Interesting....

I've been using ffdshow but I'll give cyberlink codecs a try and see if I can replicate the problem you have.

I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback. Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)

maybe setting loglevel to debug might pinpoint the difference between normal and stuck? Preferable with as much disabled as possible also try to see if anything is happening during stuck for the mediaportal process(resource monitor, disk activity, cpu usage, anything) maybe other programs competing for resouces?

hm, weird. it can't access the file because its in use by another process... Wonder what that other one is. Can you try excluding the recording folder of all background processes? (f.e. defender/antivirus etc, and maybe (don't know if that is even a thing) from creating thumbnails) Edit: and is it always the second time it succeeds...

Fixed, I think. Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this. Last time when I installed the...
