Is it possible to view lyric text in MP with german character set? Some special characters like "ß, Ä, Ö, Ü etc" were displayed unreadable...

Hello, I've got the same problem with french characters like "é" "è" etc. MP displays well special characters, the problem comes from the lyrics web pages. They are often in english and they don't display special characters for french or german.
You can see in the lyrics database (mp configuration) if it's the same than in MyLyrics. After you can go to the web on the lyrics search engine to verify if it's the same.

For me, when I've got a characters problem it's always because the english web site doesn't display the charaters.
You can search manually (in mp configuration) for an other lyric on an other web site, or rewrite the characters manually.

Force search again from lyric screen ?

Hi Mackey, thank for your great plugin, I've only a little question : it's possible to force the lyric search of one already finded song ? I explain you .. lyricwiky due to excessive traffic (when I search all lyrics from plugin configuration) send to your search only a string with 'too much traffic!' so If I see a song with this fake lyric I can research again for the correct text.
    Thank you
    Bye

    Hi

It sounds like a feature that should be implemented in the future. You can naturally edit your searches in configuration mode but in the current version there is no opportunity to do a research when run in MP.
Btw, I do disregard information strings from lyricswiki, but it seems like they are manually changed by the editor and not constantly written, which makes it hard to throw all of these messages from lyricswiki to the side.

    cheers

    mackey:

Is your plugin 1.00 supposed to work with the "strip artist prefix" option?

    I think it is not.

    Example:
ID3 tag is "Die Toten Hosen", Mediaportal display is "Toten Hosen, Die" with option "strip artist prefix".
For a manual search my lyrics looks also for "Toten Hosen, Die" - without success. Changing the search manually to "Die Toten Hosen" gives results.

Would be cool, If you could support this option also for mylyrics!

    Hi tomtom

Yes, I do handle the strip artist prefix. However, I see if e.g. the artist entry is "Killers, the" then the code searches for the artist "Killers" and not "The Killers" as you might assume. This might be the issue that explains the above. I will make sure the is a fix for this one in the next release. Thanks for the report and sorry for the late response.

    cheers

    Hi,

I'm using Mediaportal for 2 days now and I'm testing and configuring the whole thing (used XPMCE for 3 years). I don't understand the lyrics plugin at all? I installed the plugin and configured (downloaded some lyrics with the lyric configurator). When I start MP it doesn't pop up anything. Where can I see the lyrics? And can I reconfigure the lyric tool (searching for new songs) afterwards because I only can do that after installation?!

    Thanks!!

    Hello,

Make sure the plugin MyLyrics is enable in the configuration.

Then in MP, play a song and go to the plugin MyLyrics. (Normally in plugin-->MyLyrics)
If the search engine finds a lyric, you will see it, otherwise it's written something like "no song match".

To use MyLyrics, you should have good tags of your mp3 (not the files names)

It's not necessary to use the configuration tool to search lyrics. When you play a song and MyLyrics find a song it adds automatically in the MyLyrics database

Thanks Cédric for your reply. How stupid of me....just enable the thing. It downloads automatically (lrc match found or something) but the lyrics are not displayed. Is this because of the ID3 tag? So if it says that it's OK it's not enough sometimes to display the lyrics? Is there any chance that the lyrics are automatically scroll down with the song? (some tools are availabe that can handle this but don't know if mylyrics can do this).
