Ok here is my proposal for the reskin of the plugin.

Like I said the first one laughing about my nonexistent MS paint skills, will NOT be included in any version update whatsoever

So here is my proposal. The main menu will be on the left in a hide able panel. In the center area there would be the information displayed. Mainly in listviews with the appropriate values. For the torrents i thought we could do something like shown in the image. Drop the active torrent section, put the categories if enabled on top like tabs in a browser and on the right a hide able panel with "filters", which would mean that you have 3 (or more) checkbuttons for seeding, downloading and stopped. So for example if you check seeding and downloading, only the torrents of these two kinds will be displayed. It would also be possible to add a "Sort by: " field to the right panel, for example sort by Category or sort by Label which exchanges the Checkbuttons with the "tabs" and otherway around.

Please tell me what you think about it.

Looks nice, however I think categories (or labels, as uTorrent say) require listcontrol, not horizontal menu bar.
Personally I use at least 9 categories, sometimes more, and there is simply not enough space for a horizontal bar.
Anyway, the main problem is that the skin now consists of many XMLs, and I can't see any way to do some play around with.
Once you reconstruct it, anybody can... so we could see not only painted sketches here, but working designs.

About an issue... I only see one digit number in the categories, although any of them have 10+ torrents.

Future release

Thanks guys for the feedback. I think I can and will start recoding next week, however I have to rewrite a huge portion of the plugin, because now all the data display routines are distributed over all sub screens and I have to pack them all into one main screen, but lets see how it turns out
Concerning the Categories/Labels thing mentioned by vrm. You are definitely right, however I think i have an idea how to solve this, but perhaps it will be too much work for the moment and will be postponed for the Christmas holidays.

Now to something completely different:

Since this plugin originally was from sohvaperuna and I only contributed the azureus/vuze backend (Yes it also works with vuze ) and implemented a few bugfixes and feature requests, most of the credit should go to sohvaperuna and furthermore I joined for the rewrite of a new music plugin (Music: Evolution). So after the new release is out and freed of all major bugs, I will concentrate on the rewrite and only do the bugfixing.

here's a mockup of what i was thinking, i think having all labels displayed together might help the issue you guys are talking about?

the one function i think would be the most helpful is to be able to add rss feeds in an easier manner than editing the xml file. especially since all the settings get overridden every time you install, so you have to go through all the troule again. any chance you could move the rss handling to the mediaportal configuration window?

I see there has been lots of activity while I've been away. I was playing with Windows Media Center, and now I am back.

Unfortunately I do not have time now to do any coding (because of too heavy job assignment at the moment, and also I have a small baby to care ). You seem to be doing great CaNe|, keep up the good work!

I sent you a PM, I would like to test your latest version.

One major flaw I found; Installer has only my name as an author, put yours there too

If anyone have time, it would be great if someone would maintain MyTorrents.xml.
So we could get good set of public trackers there and also public RSS feeds.

Also closed ones could be added. Those should be just commented out..

Now I installed the plugin, I can see there Mininova & The Pirate Bay which are already dead
and Demonoid which seems to be down at the moment

Also there are no working pre-installed feeds..

Welcome back from "the dark side".

Didn't The Pirate Bay shut down their tracker? Would it be possible perhaps to implement support for Magnet links, I know that uTorrent supports this, and it seems like "the future" of Torrent usage.

Small Progress Update

Hello all,

first of all congratulations sohvaperuna and welcome back, deep down you know you made the right choice

There is a slight delay in progress unfortunately, due to the fact that azureus backend at the moment isn't accepting any setting changes

But I hope tomorrow during the day, I will be able to send out the betas and by the end of the week perhaps we will have a working package ready for distribution.
The idea with the maintenance of the "MyTorrents.xml" is great, we just need to find someone. So any volunteers please step forward. If there are no volunteers, we will choose someone

Concerning my name in the plugin, still feel kinda reluctant to do so, since then I would be actually responsible for what I'm programming

They still have a tracker but they moved a heck of a lot of torrents out there and into DHT (the public now takes the roll as tracker)
