After trying and error for over an hour i updated my 1 week old SVN with the most recent - now the plugin seems to recognize the existence of my microphone.

But instead of working like charm it only responses my spoken phrases with "false [, ] computer" - it doesn't matter which phrase i speak ("computer" "my music", "what time is it", etc). I tried the examples of the 5.1 SDK from MS and if I dictate "computer" it also prints "computer", so the recognition should work.

What could be the cause of the problem and what the solution?

bye Ron

Hi GWRon,

I notice a problem with the default config, as it has my settings on it. You can go into the process config and change the default voice profile to reflect yours. Also, make sure you set your default theme. I'll update the plugin to reflect these changes when I get home tonight.

I already had changed the settings (TTs response, and enabled TTS Debug, without no response is given, with debug the "false, computer" thing is played) and selected it in the MediaPortal-Configuration and within MediaPortal itself.

As I remember, if I change a certain setting within the Process Window Configuration, its still saved in the default directory instead of - e.g. "Ali G" directory.

BTW- where is the MPI-download? the first post doesn't link to it.

The first post now contains a link to the MPI installer. The link wasn't up when I hopped off last night. Try either of them instead of what you have, as the theme settings don't stick. To use the MPI installer, you may have to remove the plugin files (see the help file under installation for the files/locations). The other problem you're having is the default voice profile was pointing towards my 360 headset, which is a modded profile I use.

hmm something still wont work...

1) uninstalled the plugin
2) installed the mpi
3) restarted configuration
4) configured plugin to use my voice profile

5) started mp - tried "computer ... my music" nothing happened
6) reconfigured myVoice plugin within mp itself
7) tested again - no changes
8) started MS Speech SDK Dict Example and spoke "computer my music" recognized as "computer my music"
9) started configuration again and enabled "tts debug"
10) started mp - tried "computer". Response was "false, computer"

edit ... changed from "Microsoft Mike" to "sample TTS voice" - now it responds with "bla bla bla" but it went into the "my news" (said "my music") part of mp. So it seems the recognition fails in most cases... ok no problem, more training - but when accepting my command, why does "he" say "bla bla bla" ?

edit2 ... now it seems to work... i don't know why ... said "computer" for about 30 times... and one time it said "computer" (instead of "false, computer") and also recognized "my news".
Surprises me that the engine doesn't understand 19 of 20 "computer"s but 1 of 1 "my news" ;D.

Think it now just needs some training... sorry i threatened your nerves ;D

bye
Ron

ps: thanks for the help, appreciate it.

Hi GWRon. Configuring myVoice inside of MP itself doesn't stick outside of that session, as it's only meant to switch profiles if someone else wants to use it. Make sure the profile is set from the plugin configuration screen. Also, can you post your myvoice.log file (MP\logs\myvoice.log) as there may be something in there that helps.

GWRon: Good to hear you've got it working kinda. The bla bla is because the sample TTS voice is not complete. It's an illustration of how you could create your own TTS voice if you wanted to, and it has only a subset vocabulary. Try another round of training, especially if you only did one. Make sure to do the training on the mic that you're using, at the distance you plan to use it. Also, as someone else pointed out, changing the spelling to a form that's more similar to how you speak may help eg: computer-> cumputer.

Oh, and you didn't threaten my nerves...lol

When trying to configure the plugin I get the following error;

Under Details I find this;

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
