The latest teletext related changes are in SVN 16937. On my dev machine the timing when using DScaler, MPV, Intervideo and NVIDIA PureVideo is ok. For Cyberlink the subtitles are noticeably too fast (but not horribly so). This does not seem to be related to the compensation mechanism (in fact applying the compensation would result in subs showing even earlier).

I am very interested in feedback on timing/synch of the ttxt subs. Please remember to report the video decoder you are using and whether or not its My TV or My Videos.

Even better if you could test multiple different codecs and report the differences between those.

    Another small update:

    16943+ contains the following changes:

    1. TTxt subs are now rendered at a larger font size. The text rendering is still not ideal due to the special width/height ratio of normal teletext characters (so still some gap between lines ).

    2. Improved character tables:
Teletext transmits all the Scandinavian languages using the swedish character table (because the others are not defined). In danish this means that for example 'æ' appears as 'ä'. For subtitle pages which is identified via DVB service info as Danish, the appropriate characters are now shown instead. This might lead to a some very rare cases of an inappropriate replacement, if for example a swedish name is displayed in a danish ttxt subtitle, however i feel that since it in 99.9% of the cases is correct, its worth doing.

If anyone has noticed similar issues for other languages, please post the appropriate character replacements here and i will add them.

BTW: Please use 16943+ as earlier versions had a few problems.

I have tried the new subtitle updates and it all seems to be working ok. I use cyberlink codec and the subs are slightly to early. But when I resume after having paused the television, or waching recorded material. it get's even more early, to early for my taste (1 s or so)

Okay, i think i found the source of the timing problem. It should be fixed as of 16957.

I had accidentally divided the PCR with a slightly too big number in the conversion to seconds, resulting in the subs showing a bit too early. The seek compensation is also being applied now (hopefully correctly). From my brief tests the timing is now correct.

I can confirm that txt subs finally sync correctly even with cyberlinks codec. Tested this with bunch of recording via MyMovies.

Good to hear, and thank you for taking the time to check.

Just a small heads-up to anyone testing the latest SVN's:
We are currently setting up the configuration GUI etc for the subtitle stuff, and so some mediaportal.xml options related to dvb subtitles will change names. It will also be possible to disable ttxt and bitmap subtitles separately. I will post back, when things are final (later today).

Okay, SVN 16971+ now has a nice GUI (courtesy of gibman) to configure subtitle settings, including enabling/disabling teletext / bitmap subs separately.

You will find this under Television->TV Client->Subtitles.

Please remember to update both the MP client *and* the TV Plugin (and to re-run Configuration and set the subtitle setting, as the parameter names have changed!).

Updated the first post to contain latest install instructions... no manual editing of Mediaportal.xml is needed anymore.
