Do I need to remove the entries I have made manually?

The old entries (dvbsubtitles and sublangs) can only cause trouble if we later on decide to use entries with the same name, and even then only if we use a different format for the parameter (ie if we later use the dvbsubtitles as something else than yes/no).

So the answer is yes if you are paranoid and no otherwise ;)

Why are there two "Swedish" in the list of available languages at Television->TV Client->Subtitles? Do I need to select both?

I had hoped you (as someone from sweden) would be able to answer that :) DVB uses some standard (cant recall exactly which) 3 letter ISO standard for abbreviating languages (ie 'swe' is swedish, 'dan' is danish and 'eng' is english).

For Norwegian at least i know there is 'nno' for the 'new' Norwegian (nynorsk) and just 'nor' for Norwegian.

Apparently the two swedish are 'swe' and 'sve'.

It might just be a mistake in the language list. You can check in Mediaportal.xml that you have 'swe' in the "preferredsublanguages" entry

    Ah you're right

    <entry name="preferredsublanguages">sve;swe;</entry>

Could we not just make one entry that writes both sve and swe to Mediaportal.xml? It isn't possible to know which one you select anyway and I don't see why anyone would like just one of them :)

Have you enabled teletext subtitles under Television->TV Client->Subtitles?
