    disable Asus Soft at B206

    Hi there!

How do you all disable the whole Asus Software (included Asus software package). The EECinema sometimes pops up (also the easy sidebar) and this is really annoying. If I deinstall the EECinema the HD codec is also gone, so this is no option.

    Hi all,
A new twist to the same thread.

With some help from Naich on another thread, I have my main TV Server/MP Client PC running happily on its own (MP1.0.2 on XP SP3). I’ve configured an MP Client (MP1.0.2 on XP SP3) on an Asus EEE Box B206 with an HDMI connection to a 23” BENQ G2412HD Monitor. LAN connection is over an 802n network with a connection speed of about 130MB.

The MP Client runs fine with both SD and (surprisingly!) HD TV and videos.

I have three main issues now:
    1. The display running anything under MP is 'grainy'. It's OK in native windows mode.

    2. I'm interested in how people with the same configuration reliably wakeup the TV server when the remote client starts, and allows the TV server to go into standby when the remote client turns off (assuming there's nothing else happening on the server such as recording or local MP client active). I'm trying to get the NAS software working, but it only works first time it's turned off and on.

    3. My BENQ G2412HD Monitor doesn't shut down when the B206 is put into standby. I've set all the options in MP, but as far as I can tell from other posts, HDMI doesn't support this function. I think the monitor itself eventually shuts down after 20 or 30 mins, but that's not much help to me (I'm the one who gets kicked out of bed to turn the monitor off!!).

    4. The reverse seems to occur as well - if the monitor is turned off, turning on the B206 doesn't wake up the monitor.

Hopefully I'm not cluttering or hijacking this thread (Moderators - feel free to reorganise!!).

    Cheers
    ...Steve

    HI!

    OK let's have a look ...

    1
    MP is 'grainy'.
My Quality on an LG LCD TV is ok. Did you make the screen setup inside MP?? But I'm not sure that it solves your problem.

There's a plugin called mysleeptimer. If you switch a defined button, MP goes into standby after the predefined time (also if you're already in a dream ;). Switching the TV off isn't possible for me too. My LG LCD TV goes into standby after 10 Min. after it lost the signal, I think. Not the perfect way ... but hey we're already sleeping. :D

There's no way via HDMI I'm afraid. I use a Harmony remote. All Hardware on one remote. Not cheap at all ... but there's only one remote I need.

    Hi Naich,

    1. Not sure what you mean, but I've played with a variety of video and decoder settings in MP. I've only tried FFDShow codecs though, so it might be I need different codecs.

    2.

    3. (and 4.) The monitor doesn't have a remote capability. TVSleeptimer could be an option - thx!

    Cheers

I only use the standard codecs for SD Channels, and the included codec for HD (I think it is an nvidia H264 codec which is delivered with the EeeBox software, but I'm not sure). Do you mean the MP gui is grainy or the video/TV picture is grainy?? If you've problems with the video/TV picture plz try different "fallback de-interlaced mode" (You'll find the setup in MP Config/ television). For me "Bob" is the best choice.

MySleeptimer is a plugin for MP. You can define a button which enables the plugin and also the time after the plugin sends the Box into standby (take a llok here)

    Hi Naich.
Grainy is only on TV/Video - MP GUI and Windows desktop etc is perfect.
I'll have another play tomorrow night.

    Hi Guys,

just stumbled upon this thread... especially the getting-kicked-out-of-the-bed part ;-)
My solution to this has always been the MySleepTimer-Plugin which i wrote exactly for that purpose. Coupled with a convenient (and pretty cheap) master/slave outlet it's perfect for us lazy butts...

In case you've never heard about master/slave outlets:
Master/Slave Outlet, China Master/Slave Outlet products- China Master/Slave Outlet Manufacturer, supplier

The basic idea is to have the htpc connected as the master device and all other outlets will be cut off, when the master is turned off therefore switching your tv/sound system off as well.
My Samsung "46 will turn itself on and even remembers the last input when power is back on!

    regards,
    Marcus
