The user survey 2009 says 82% is on 16:9 and only 11% is on 4:3.

The user survey also says 14% use Blue3 (a 4:3 skin) so draw your own conclusions. Plus it did not allow users to select more than one option. Some users have both 16:9 TV and 4:3 monitors (TV connected to computer so no separate HTPC or run MP on both computer and HTPC) Also, the survey only represented about 10% of the estimated MP users. So that would result in several thousand 4:3 users.

So I say good for you CitizenKeys for reviving this excellent skin! You're doing a great job! More options for us 4:3 users!

that's all in BasicHome.xml .

i'm limited to 5 options on the home screen because that's the number of spaces on the menu-texture-thing (home_buttons.png).

if somebody wants to redo home_buttons.png with more spaces (preferably 7, one at top and another at bottom) i'll gladly incorporate that into a future release of the skin.

i can easily foresee adding the following:
* top entry for applications, like emulators and games.
* bottom entry for radio, which i'd use with shoutcast radio.

Could I persuade you to make the changes for me??

What I'd like is a BasicHome screen with only 3 entries: MyMusic, MyRadio and MyWeather.

Will this help?

You only need remove the bottom 2 buttons and change the top three to the requested. Then rename the png when you copy it over the original... or just change the called graphic in the xml.

Or am I just making trouble....?

Unfortunately you are making trouble

Modding the .png was noo problem, but figuring out what to change in BasicHome.xml is out of my league..

arranging the buttons in basichome.xml isn't much work.
rather than remove the two buttons and have 3 options, i'd rather have 7 options and add 2 more - programs and radio.
if someone redoes the menu png file, i'll include 2 basichome.xml's in the next release - basichome.xml and basichome7.xml that has the 7-option-png in it.

once again, i do 4:3 because my projector does 4:3 by default.
that said... i'll put my projector in 16:9 mode and do a 16:9 pm3sexy.
but... not until i do another release of the 4:3, because it's easier to mod the 4:3 to 16:9 after-the-fact rather than develop two versions at the same time.
right now, my focus is to finish up the next 4:3 release of pm3sexy and get it posted.

the next pm3sexy will include mp-tvseries skin files.

if anyone has any comments/suggestions/bugs with the pm3sexy skin, please let me know so i can address those before i post the next release.
after the next version, my focus is on doing the 16:9 version.

I dropped the array down one button height before adding two to the top, keeping a straight edge with the old top button.

It's a close fit. There was one more graphic that was also adjusted to allow for the change. 4x3home4.png replaces 4x3home3.png.

hold-up for the next version is getting the video playlist working.

after that, i'm doing the 16:9 version.

alright, i just uploaded the 1.5 version of this skin.
somebody just needs to approve it.

version 1.5 (2009 / 07 / 03) - this release
* skin folder is now "pm3sexy43" for this 4:3 version.
* "Moving Pictures" aesthetic changes on the 'movie details'.
* error-free: nothing in this version of this skin will generate an error.log, even on debug level.
if you find something that does, please let me me know.
* "Moving Pictures" movie browser page no longer has disappearing/reappearing backdrop bug.
* minor aesthetic changes.
* minor button navigation changes to make usability more consistent.

but i need the topbar in the startscreeen to shutdown the HTPC
can i activate it somewhere?

as i recall, topbar wasn't used even in the 'project mayhem iii' that this is based on.

how do you use the computer (keyboard, remote, mouse, etc)?

the idea with this skin is that people don't need the extra buttons.

if you explain the situation, i'll make a revision so it works for you.
