Hi all,

1. I read that some of you are using a external DVB-S2 Box.
But which DVB-S2 box do you use? And do you have any problems with them?

2. Did you manage to wake on the ION with your remote from standby and Hibernation?

1. I can't awnser that question as I don't have that setup.
2. Yes I can wake my HTPC and put it to sleep using the Philips IR receiver. See my system specs to see which IR Receiver I use.

Yes this setup works with the DVD Navigator of MP itself and I don't have AnyDVD HD installed atm. I to use a trial version of AnyDVD HD and don't really know if it's worth the amount of money they ask, personally I think they are extremly expensive.

The PowerDVD9 version in the UNLOCKED SAF packs is newer then the one you can extract from the PowerDVD9 Trial. So try the UNLOCKED version of SAF and then use version 4.00 beta19. To get it UNLOCKED you need to PM Hoborg. Also be sure to install all codecs and codec packs as administrator.

Finally!!! I can now see why it works for you, you're on 1.0.2. It is a bug in MP 1.1.0 Beta and not related to Win 7 at all. I installed latest SVN and it suddenly worked again.

I got this model yesterday. And of course I got an example that has a high pitch sound. If I open the box and relese the cassette with the dvd and hdd and let it "hang free" in the air the pitch goes away. When I screw it back the sound comes with it. This is so frustrating. Should I go back to the store with it or is there a simple solution(and cheap) for making such sounds go away?

There are most likely ways to make it go away, but if the store is near I would return it.

I received my Asrock ION 330 yesterday. I installed Windows 7 64-bits, MP 1.1.0, CoreAVC, FFDShow, Haali Media Splitter, and the Black Glass skin until the speed issue with the StreamedMP skin has been solved. Things work perfectly out of the box, except for a minor, but very annoying point.

The nettop is connected via HDMI to my 58" plasma, a Panasonic TH58PZ800. It's plugged into the HDMI2 port of the TV. When I switch to the PC and set the resolution to FullHD, I get a very big overscan issue. Using ION's display settings panel, I was able to scale the resolution down to 1088 x 982, which fits exactly the TV screen, but the image becomes a bit edgy. Nothing critical, and MP's scaling capabilities do their job perfectly, but it's a bit frustrating to have to tweak things that way.

Panasonic is known for providing extremely poor settings menus on their PDPs. Searching the web for a solution, I've seen lots of topics, articles and posts related to other brands, where the obvious solution is to enable or disable overscan on the TV, or to enable a 1:1 ratio with the signal source. Looks like this is not available in my PDP.

Should anyone have an idea how I can solve this, (s)he'd gain my eternal gratitude ;-)

Hi,

Good to have another ION330 users. Thanks for the testing you did so far on the StreamedMP skin. I have a Philips 42" 1080p LCD screen, but have had zero issue on overscan or underscan. I did have a similar issue with an ATI HD3200 and had to manually adjust the scaling of the GPU on every used resolution and Hz in order to make it work. If I didn't it would then return after playing a movie to a wrong resolution kinda annoying! Hope you find a fix for this, I have no clue on how to fix it other then GPU settings. You can have you TV do scaling or your GPU, maybe play around with that a bit.

Thanks DominiOn, I'll do my best to help MP run smoothly on this little baby ;-)

One thing really interests me: how you managed to get your 330 wake up with the remote. I'm using an USB-UIRT interface, and I'd like to know what are the things to do to achieve the same result...

Nothing really special. I set MP to use MCE remote, then remap the TVpoweroff function to make it shutdown windows and then I set windows shutdown button to go to sleep. My Philips USB receiver wakes up the HTPC when I press the activity on my Harmony 555 remote. The USB IR receiver has to support S3 wakeup in order to make it work.

I do it this way, so that I can also press the powerbutton on the HTPC itself to make it go to sleep.

I'm wondering if an ION330 owner ever tried to disable the onboard 2" fan which is the main source of HF noise... Anybody?
