thanks, that did it for me. shame on me, i usually search on google even for my car keys ;-)

now i'm having the problem that neither 1080i nor 1080p generate a smooth picture on HD Channels. It "tears" horizontal in the middle of the picture.

720p works allright. im digging on it ...

i also have the issue with overscan on a sony
google "sony overscan" and find: Removing HDMI overscan on a Sony HDTV | Sylvain Wallez

My sony tv KDL-D3200 does not have this "full pixel" option. so i have to live with the overscan or use a custom resolution. i have no overscan when i use the native res. 1360*768. when i choose 720p or 1080p there is overscan. when i watch videos i have no problem with the ovrscan. the black borders seem alright compared with my dvd-player. but the MP GUI looks not very nice. is there a possibility to scale the gui but not the videos? thanks for your input!

if your picutes fits into the lcd with native resolution, you have "full pixel" i.e. pixel mapping i.e. you do not have any overscan problems.

what you need is a skin, fitting your non-standard aspect ratio. try some. perhaps bleazle wide will fit...

no, that's not overscan, that is just a non fitting resolution.
overscan is a tv thing. the incoming picture is magnified bigger then the screen (overscaned) by the tv, so that the borders are not displayed (because they are not "nice" in a tv-stream). if you are able to show the whole desktop in native res. on your screen it's not overscan!

aghira1 : finally found the proper setting on my TV, shame to me I didn't found it earlier ;-)

Now I have what I may call a minor annoyance, but it turns out to be very irritating. Since it happens regardless of the skin (Black Glass, Blue3 or StreamedMP), I guess it's not skin-related. Since it happens in both MyTVSeries and Moving Pictures, I guess it's not plugin-related. But I don't know if it's MP-related, since at first hand I wasn't experiencing that issue... Let me try to explain.

There's a formatting problem that happens after I played one video. It can be a simple SD AVI, or a x264 MKV, or a DVD ISO, or a WMV... It always happens after I play a video for the first time after boot. The image below illustrates the problem:

As you see, several parts of the layout are broken. Now this is a screenshot of MyTVSeries, but the issue also happens in Moving Pictures. For both plugins, I'm using the latest stable releases (MyTVSeries 2.3.3538 and Moving Pictures 0.7.5), and I'm running MP 1.1.0.0.

Also, during playback, the OSD items are also corrupted, as depicted below:

IMG_0108.JPG

The funny thing is, if I go back to the home screen and type ESC a couple of times on there, the displays resets to show up perfect. But then again, after the next playback, it's all back to the corrupted mode.

I tried upgrading all the filters I use (ffdshow, Haali and CoreAVC with CUDA). I tried updating the ION drivers. Nothing changed. So far, I haven't upgraded Mediaportal to a more recent SVN, but before doing so I'd be really interested knowing if anybody else has already ancountered the same issue, and more important if -- and how -- that person could get rid of it.

I know this may not be the most appropriate topic for this subject, so please mods, point me to the right location if this causes any inconvenience.

To anyone wondering about the outcome of the highpitch sound from the CPU-Fan that I had in my nettop-box:
I returned my old 330 Nettop that had this unacceptable whining sound (that would make a sane man ponder what his last meal would be"see number 2") and waited for the new model instead, the 330Pro. To my surprise the fan made just the same whining noise. Kind of irritating yeah. So I took the matter into my own hands and bought a Zalman Fan Mate 2, a fanspeed regulator for those who wonder. Turned it down to its lowest setting and voila, no more whining.
Anyway, I think that Asrock should discontinue their cooperation with the fan-supplier and get a decent manufacturer instead.
Ps. Sorry for all the whining....ds.
Ps number 2: I think I would go for a homemade burger...and then blow my brains out

Hey guys,

I consider to buy an AsRock ION 330 HT or Pro (with the remote - or should i get another one? I have a Logitech 555 but need a good receiver that can wake up the HTPC). As I am from Germany where everything is a bit more expensive and will be in the US after Xmas - what is the best price i can get in the US?? I have friends there who could buy it for me and give it to me on my visit!

Another question: What TV-Card do you use? I need an analog USB TV Card I guess, but which is the one to get? I'm looking for best value for money!

Cheers,
David

I have the Asrock ION330, not the new one with a Philips USB IR receiver... See my specs on the left to see what model. It works flawlessly with waking up my unit and letting it go to sleep. I use Windows 7 Ultimate in combination with this unit. Don't try to use the supplied instantboot software as it will not work in combination with booting MediaPortal at the same time ;)...

I don't use a USB receiver voor TV, I use a simple settop box that is stacked ontop of my Asrock unit.

Do you mean you use a DVB-T set-top box to feed your ASRock with a TV signal?

If so, how does that work? Presumably you're only able to watch/record one channel at a time?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick here?
:)

Sorry for the poor explenation... No my settop is not connected to my Asrock I use a separately connected settop box that connects directly to my TV. I switch between the units with activities on my Harmony remote.
